Install SRT stuff in an SXT

I had been reading about others upgrading their SXTs, and I have always wanted to have the leather steering wheel and buttons on the wheel to control the radio. Well, I decided to go all out. I got a steering column w/wheel and instrument cluster from a 2010 SRT. I installed the SCM, clock spring and leather wheel to my original column. The gauge cluster was a straight up swap. Once all this was done, I fired up the AppCar software and started looking through things that I wanted to change. I now have DRLs running through the high beams. Started raining, so I did not get a chance to really work through all the settings. I have not, as yet installed the uconnect device, but once that goes in, I will have a compass shown on the dash. I have had zero issues so far and I think as long as I don't go nuts changing settings, things will probably be good to go. I took a few pics during the swap and thought I would post them up to show others. Basic things like how to disconnect the dash panels are located all over the site, so just do a bit of sniffing around, you will find what you need.

Just an update (not that anyone cares), I have installed the RT gauge cluster, leather steering wheel w/controls. I have also installed Homelink. I have also changed a few settings with the AppCar software, like DRLs and a couple of other things. I think I need to either change out or have my TIPM programmed to get all the EVIC functions working. I think I will be keeping the old girl now.

One thing that I am still not sure of, to get all of the EVIC working I need to get a fuse box out of an SRT, or so I deduce from reading other threads. I have been keeping my eye out for one of them, but I am not 100% sure that this will get all the EVIC stuff working. If anyone has a definitive answer I would love to hear your experience.

Hey, I just did the same upgrades. I had the ESP on my SXT so I didn't get the clock spring. I added the homelink, steering wheel controls, and 160mph cluster from an 06. The only thing not working is the coolant temp gauge. Do you have the same issue? Possible that my gauge is broken, but it runus threw the 4 presets when I do the test.

The cluster I used all the gauges worked right away. I would imagine that you could take the temp gauge out of your old cluster and plug it into the RT cluster.

Has anyone with an SRT8 tried this appcar software? Wondering if it will allow me to add anything.

Well, I finally got the performance pages to come up on my EVIC. Just took talking to the right person. NyInstaller hooked me up with some info I needed and pointed me to AlphaODB software to convince the cluster to turn on like it should. Can't post pics of the gauges for some reason, so you will have to take my word for it. Now I just need to get the blue tooth to start working (just need to make up a harness). Should be fun, and now I know it can be done, and you can do it too.

The "EVIC" is the status display you see that is the readout below the MPH/RPM Gauges.

Electronic Vehicle Information Center was in all the product literature back then along with other unique terms like FOBIK. EVIC was simply steering wheel buttons to control the radio and navigate through the menu options in the screen below the speedo. My LC didn't have it and the only thing I ever really missed was access to see transmission temp, oil temp & oil pressure when racing. "__CM" is some type of Control Module computer so you only have to figure out what the first consonant references - powertrain, transmission, suspension... There's a lot of them on the newer generations of this ancient platform.
