Anyone familiar with why Dodge modified the oil control valve solenoid?

The 6.4 is on the left and newer 6.2 version is on the right.

Any reason not to use the newer 6.2 version with my 6.4 VVT set up?

Ok I think I answered my own question. The cam phasers are the same for the 6.2 and 6.4 engines. I suspect differences in the oil control solenoid are related to the MDS system assoc with 6.4 but not present in the hellcat

Yes Chris, that is the correct answer. It may not matter which one you use, the mds oil passages are still there, but as long as the mds lifters themselves are replaced with solid lifters in the 6.2, there will be no issue...(i haven't had a 6.2 torn down to the lifters yet, so im not sure if they actually removed the mds lifters, or just blocked the oil control off...)

    Awesome progress.

Still cant wait to see how the blower itself bolts onto the heads....or are you expecting no issues there?

Sucks, wish I knew how well a 6.2L front drive like you are using would work on a 6.1L block, would love to convert mine over.

Already test fit the bottom section and no clearance issues with manifold mounting to the heads. Just need to modify the two coolant lines coming from the water pump as they do not fit under the manifold. More pics on that later this weekend.

Biggest issue at the moment is getting the damn damper on. M16 bolt is causing some issues with the only kit I could find. Trying to avoid buying the 150.00 ATI install kit.

Bolt not long enough for initial grab. I could smack it a bit to see if I can get it to grab as I have done with the stock balancers in the past.

Would rather not try that with this fresh build.

If you have a friend with a good harmonic balancer install kit, if not...Matco tool kit MST4531 has the right adapters. Auto Zone usually has and MTD kit you can borrow/rent...

None of the kits have the 16mm with proper 1.5 pitch. They all have the 2.0 pitch thread.

May just see if I can find some 16mm 1.5 threaded rod that I can use as the stud.
