Need help getting a measurement on the car - any owners???

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post here. Love the forum. I love the car too. Anyway, I don't usually introduce myself and then start asking questions right away, but here goes. Is there anyone here with a 3.5L 300 who'd be willing to go out and measure their hood clearance for me? It's a little bit of a pain, but the info would be incredibly helpful. My company is trying to figure out if we can develop a supercharger for this engine in this car and we need to know how much hood clearance there is. We can't just buy a car and then discover there isn't enough room for the supercharger :-) Anyway, if anyone would be willing to go measure for me I'd really really appreciate it. Here's how you do it: take a ball of clay or playdough and put it in a plastic bag. Set it on top of the highest part of the intake manifold and then shut the hood gently. It should squish the clay, which you can then measure and determine how much space you have between the top of the manifold and the hood. If no one volunteers I won't take offense cause I know it's a pain. But it never hurts to ask right? Thanks a lot everyone

Scott

Hello Scott, welcome to the forum!

Funny you ask, but I don't think we have any 3.5 owners on the forum (yet).

Did you contact your local dealer? I'm sure they would let you try it out on a Touring or Limited on the lot.

I'll be back at the dealer today looking at an SXT. I'll see if I can persuade them to let me do a little test.

the rental companies have them now, maybe your company could spring for a one day rental?

Can you believe they sold the Magnum? I thought they weren't letting them go? We did test drive a $39K Ram Hemi equipped Quad Cab though.

Thanks so much to everyone who responded. You folks are a great bunch. I'm sorry I didn't respond earlier. I'm HAVING trouble logging on. Every time I try to post it brings me to the "log on" page. So I log in, and then try to post but it sends me right back to the same place. I had to use a friend's computer to post this. Anyway...

Tony
Congrats on the new purchase, and thanks for offering to CHECK the clearance. It'll be a huge help to me. We're working really hard on a lot of the details of this right now, to make sure the project is a go, before buying a car to use for development. This little piece of info will make it a lot easier for us.

joekd,
You say the rental companies have them now...any ideas which ones? We'd definitely jump all over the chance to rent one and thoroughly examine it for a day, if we knew where to get one. Also, I hope they have the 3.5 and not the 2.7, as that's what we need.

Again thanks to everyone for the responses. Assuming all goes as planned, I'll be around here plenty, and I should have plenty of helpful tech info for V6 owners, once we get busy developing mods for it

Scott

Dolar and Thrifty should have them...Most of them should be 300 Touring's and Limited's.

As stated yesterday, I'm supposed to take delivery of a 300 Limited today.

I got a call FROM my delership informing me that Chrysler was preventing them FROM allowing me to take my car because GET THIS !! "it was the only one on the lot and they had no other 300 to show"

I'm not sure how to respond to this ($#*&@#$%*!?%$**&^&amp
sorry for venting here

I was told it can be picked up on Wednesday

sorry Scott.

Tony, that is RIDICULOUS!!! Why should other people be pawing over your car? I'd go down their and demand it.

But that's just me.
