WAITED ALL THIS TIME FOR A LEMON!!!
I was so happy to finally get the phone call that my car was in. I bought 22" wheels for it, custom drilled, T.V's, to be in a car SHOW in 6 days. I'm driving it home and it sounds like the whole bottom of the car is just going to fall off any time you hit a bump??? Not just any bump, it has to be bumps like speed bumps, that the 2 front wheels hit, then the back 2 wheels hit. Not necessarily as big as speed bumps, they can be small. After I left work at about 2:30am the noise underneath was just WORSE, it almost sounds like it's right underneath the armrest. When I left the dealership, I thought it could of been the spare tire or the battery not tied down, definitly not that! Then when you sit at a light, the car sounds like it's just going to die out. The idle boggles??? Can it be a lemon? What could that noise be? Do brand new cars idle like that for awhile? Please help, I can't wait another 6 weeks for another one

There was a burning smell on the 300C tester they had here locally. It's just exhaust.
As for the rattle - something obviously isn't right, but as for being a lemon, I doubt it. It sounds like a repairable thing, perhaps just something was tightened down correctly during manufacturing. I would get it in for service immediately! |

This bumps were after you put the 22"'s on?
Maybe it messed with suspension geometry and something is binding? Sorry to hear...hope it is something easily repairable.

Right. Step one would be to put the stock wheels back on.

I'm sure it's not fun, but I wouldn't yet call it a lemon. Let the dealer have a look at it before you panic. It could be something silly like a bolt left off of a carrier for the driveshaft. I've had that happen after a REPAIR to my old Impala SS several years ago. They should be able to find the reason for the noise fairly easily. Give them a shot and let us know what they find!

Man, good luck with all that! Hopefully its a small problem that just seems big 'cause you just got the car. Reminds me of when i got my volvo...the guys decided to pressure wash the engine bay and filled up the cylinders with water. I go out to turn the key, and nothing! 15 mins later, everythiing was fine...hopefully, this'll be something just as trivial.

Geez, me too. Odd that something like that would be loose so early, but at least it was small!!!
