Good show, maherm, on setting the *6.1L* speed record.

I was wondering how long it would be till a 6.1L found opportunity to really stretch its legs.

There should be quite a bit left. You'll be able to find out once superchips has the 6.1L tuner on the street and you've reset the limiters.

Road and Track reported the CSRT8 to be electronically limited (governed)at 165. Here it looks like it's rev limited. Is R&T wrong?

Pretty amazing that this car isn't drag limited at those speeds. Says a lot for the 6.1.....

It's even more amazing that the 5.7L is drag limited to speeds approaching 175 mph, DP03.

Speaks volumes about the design mastery of Ralph Gilles.

R&T is wrong. Many SRT owners have posted speeds up to 172. They ALL have topped out there though.

Some speculate drag, some speculate it's simply because you are hitting the rev limiter in top gear at 172.

There are no governers on the SRT's, only the R/T's. And thanks to Superchips, that went bye-bye!

Please remember that non-US specs cars are tuned differently..My older 300C used to reach 150mph stock while US cars are limited to 127mph..
So please stop saying our SRT-8 is speed limited to certain mph just because a magazine says so.....I just wish all the doubters to be there with me when I hit it , I guess my camera will be busy in week or so to prove it

I believe it, as it has no problems getting there very quickly, on the dyno. Throw in a bunch of wind resistance, and it would slow down how fast, but it's got the power to overcome it...

4th gear

I believe if your foot was on the floor you were still in FOURTH! Car and Driver got like 174 at the redline in 4th gear. Fifth is way to long.

Eagerly awaiting another car to confirm!

I found this link on one of the forums, thought it was here but didn't see it... A video of a charger SRT doing 165mph, looks like it's right around 5900rpm kind of hard to tell due to the camera shaking. That baby pulls pretty good though.
