HalfFast Performance delivers first VCT Cam installation

In what seems to be the first ever VCT “Eagle” Camshaft install performed, HalfFast Performance does it with Inertia Motorsports’ Performance Eagle cylinder heads and Version 1 camshaft.

Lxforums member Rhyster’s 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T 6 speed was the lucky recipient of a power infusion. Being the first VCT engine, this meant checking details at every step. new procedures as well as new specifications require more time and equal attention to detail. The pace was methodical and consistent. 12 hours from start to finish, the car drove out with a sense of new found power with a mere 8900km on the odometer.

Chris, I saw the detail you went to on this install - amazing. You would not be rushed, one thing at a time - perfect for any heads and cam swap but ever so important for the first VCT one!

not yet. being a 6 speed, as well as the first VCT Heads/Cam car means the part throttle tuning takes time. given this build was done this past Saturday we were more than fortunate to have received a revision on a weekend from the tuner. more to follow in the future.

the cam position was degreed in its "locked" state and found to be within a range that was acceptable. given the camshaft can not yet be adjusted through a timing set, we wanted to verify the position. it would have come back out if we had an issue with it.

valve to piston clearance is not an issue as well. we spent quite a bit of time before finally starting the car up. it was a long day, but details are key.
