5.7 limits............
Does anyone know just how much a stock 5.7 can handle?? What are the limiting factors block or heads? Just curious...
planning on the go juice, but wanting to know more on these engines

I'm sure others will chime in with much more detailed information but here is what I've gathered.
Stock 5.7 block can be safely bored out to 392ci. Above that you're taking a lot of risk. Lots of folks running boost at 5-7psi on stock motor without problems. Our heads are limited to how much lift we can go with. Not sure what the magic number is though. I havent made a point to do much research on the juice. Seems like a 100 shot is what most are comfortable with. Your rear wont take much more than 500rwhp, especially if youre running slicks. Plenty of broken 5.7 parts around here to prove it! If you reach this power level it's in your best interest to budget for upgraded rear end parts. With my new set up I have my fingers crossed hoping to put down a solid 410-415+ rwhp and because it's a daily driver I'm not putting slicks on without upgrading my rear first.

Maybe i need to clarify
Just wondering how much spray a stock 5.7 can handle? 125, 150? Also was curious if it was the bottom half of the motor or the upper half of the motor that was the weakest. I want to spray, but I also dont want to spray TOO much and have a bent or broken valve, or a bust bottom end.

125 is the most i would do.. and its our bottem ends that are the weak point.

How about HEMIDON who while out of town his daughters boyfriend decided to take the Daytona out hotrodding. Sprayed a 200+ (if memory serves me correctly) shot and blew out gaskets and seals EVERYWHERE..... Don did end up with an Interia built stroker though. Not for nothing but that kid's picture would of ended up on a milk box if that was my car!

i think his bottom end was forged tho ...wasnt he like 348ci ...im not 100% but i think it was him..

he forged the motor after the kid blew it up i think.
and i dont think he sprayed a specific shot, the solenoid stuck open or something and it was a massive dose of straight N2O all at once.. something like that, cant remember it all

I seem to have found out what happens to a 5.7 intake when the motor is fired up with a manifold full of NITROUS !!!!
I pulled the intake off tonight !!!!!... I'll get further in it tomorrow night not to mention blowing the gasket out between the EGR tube and the valve, 3 intake runner seals are blown and the Throtle Body seal to the manifold is blown out. I hope the motor is not hurt. Its building enough crank case presure that it blows the dipstick out of the tube Photos later I don't know who to blame ![]() I went on a cruise last week..... When I got home my car ran like ....???!! It had a random misfire code, plus 5 others. The A/F went off the scale lean when I would take my foot off the gas when coasting. At idle the A/F would swing from about 12.5 to 15. Cruising the A/F ran in the low 14's I left my keys with my 20 year old son ![]() ... and told my Daughter's 19 year old boyfriend he could drive it 1 day to the shop where he works... STUPID ME !!!! So at minimum I need an Intake Manifold... Please reply in the WTB Forum From HEMIDON 10/27/2008 this is what i found

PowerWagon I think is shooting a 150shot into his and it seems to be doing fine. But that is with a Zex kit that is fly wheel rated.
I think the 5.7 MIGHT be able to take a 150shot but for how long idk. I would love to test the limits of the 5.7 my self if i had spare cash to just drop a storker in if it blew.

Well, I'm not new to nitrous......just new to the HEMI's. I had a CRX and sprayed 125 all day long on the B-16A1 engine. I loved that car R.I.P blew the motor ...........not with the juice.... oil pump went out and couldn't turn it off fast enough and shot a rod out of the block. I don't have big bucks and am not wanting to take the bull by the horns just yet. Just trying to stay of this side of "The Safe" fence.

Ok put it like this I plan on spraying a 125 shot on my car. I have a NX kit. I wont start off spraying a 125. But when the season is in next year she will be at 125.

Here's a bit of a long term review as I've had the ZEX kit on my RT for a bit. It is not the LX specific kit (which didn't exist at the time) but is pretty much the same thing except I had to tap into the fuel line with a universal plastic tee fitting.
From late 2006 to about mid 2008 I was spraying the 75 shot. From mid 2008 to early 2009 I sprayed the 100 shot and have since been using a 125 shot. As per most of the nitrous threads I use the 6.1 stock spark plug (one step colder) and in addition add a can of octane boost. Don't go crazy spraying the car too much and she should be fine.
