Another tire: Nokian WR??

My local tire guy says the Toyo proxes S/T 255/50/18's are on national backorder...doesn't have a clue when they'll be available.

He's got a set of Nokian WR 255/55/18 SUV tires that he says would be good on the R/T (in Chicago, anyway, as this is a winter tire) ...I've never heard of these...anyone got any experiences with them?

I've never had personal experience with them, but from everyone I know who has, they seem to be a very, very good tire.

Popular European brand that isn't too well known in North America. Thier winter tires are renowned for being the best in the world.

Looks like our exact stock size is listed too: 235/60-18. That's a hard size to find, in fact I was thinking only Conti was making that size? This is welcome news to me...

No, we're 225/60/18. 235/60/18 is about 1/2 inch taller, but its dang close to a 255/45/20, which is a size reportedly understood by the StarScan

Thanks KW...

The guy wants $190 each out the door...pretty pricey if you ask me but he says they'll be good to 60K miles. Any thoughts? I really have no clue about this tire.

Other option is to oder the proxes at $600 total out the door, but he doesn't know when they'll be in. My contis are bald at 32K.

Matt's correct; our stock size is 225/60/18. Not imortant to me cause I want something a little beefier to replace the contis.

I checked out the Nokians on this side of the border and found that Kaltire has the franchise here in western Canada through the Sears outlets. I also heard they were a great tire but according to the website were not available in the 18's that we have.

I must make a phonecall.

Got ya...thanks. I guess my deal isn't so bad then...

Currently have an email into Toyo to see what I can find out about the national backorder on 255-50-18 Proxes...
