your 300 is great for your first car, just because its no hemi doesnt mean its not as good. make your ride a cruiser so instead of buying performance parts go for looks man. Or save your money up and make a down payment for a hemi

Take into account the price for insurence with a V8. And the price for gas. I think I would stay with what I have and wait untill I had some other deductions.

thats a nice car, for a 19 year old. Hell my first car was a 1994 hyundai elantra with a bad engine cylinder, so it ran on 3 cylinders. That car was slow as hell with 4 cylinders, lol i took a chance with my life everytime i took out on the freeway. However i loved that car, because it was a gift, and most of my friends were still using public transportation at the time. So be happy with what you have and let the modding began!!!

Keep the 2.7 for now, in a few years you should be able to move up to a used Hemi or maybe a SRT?

I bought my 16 yr. old stepson a 2007 Focus ZX3 stick (only 4500 miles on it). Shortly thereafter he was driving across the parking lot at a gas station (probably too fast) and collided with a truck that backed out of a parking space abruptly. Technically, it was the other guys fault. $3800 damage. No points.
A year later since he was a good student (all A's and B's) and a good kid, I traded the Focus for a 2006 Mazda Miata MX5 Sport with 12k miles. It looked like new. 6 weeks later he got on the gas too much in the rain and lost control, went across the median and had a head-on collision. Nobody was hurt, but the Mazda was totaled. The Mazda had 170hp in a 2500lb car with 6 speed tranny. It was quick. Too much for him evidently, especially in the rain. He's currently walking and will for a while longer. His next car will be cheap, because I won't be putting collision and comprehensive insurance on it for obvious reasons, slow, unexciting, and won't be near as much fun to drive. My point is that maybe you should wait a couple more years before getting a hemi. It might save a lot of trouble, ie high insurance, wrecks, injuries etc. The hemi can get you into trouble quickly if you don't have the maturity to know how to judiciously use the gas pedal! I know you want power. I did too when I was your age and still do at 65 yrs. old. I was 21 when I got my new 300hp 4 speed 65 Chevelle. It's a miracle I survived with that car. |

Keep what ya got until you get a few more years of driving experience under your belt. Take your extra cash (after saving, of course) and pimp that ride the hell out! I think everyone on here will agree that you have a damn fine car for your 1st ride. Take care of it.

My dad told me he would cosign on one condition....I had to give him 3 months of car payments and insurence...I was pissed...but It was great Idea...
If you really want Hemi...It will show him you are resposible enough to save up the loot....You will probably take better care of the car because you are now invested in it...And the most important thing to him was...He was cosigner...I gave him 3 months payments and insurance...That way if i missed car payment he had 3 months to sell it..... It made perfect scence....but I was still pissed...So I saved up 3 months car payment and insurance...But instead of having him cosign..I now had the money to do it on my own and I baught my first new car on my own and no one could say crap....So if you really want a Hemi.....Prove it to yourself and your dad and he may help ya or you may not even need him at all....Just an Idea...And not only that...when you save up 3 months worth of bills you may find out you dont want to spend it on Hemi....Ideas may change....Just an Idea

I agree, for your age that is one fine looking car you have there.. Sure maybe some of your friends have street rides that are quick ( just assuming ) but from what I can see in your sig pic that is a pretty car for any age driver. Roll with what you got, save some money , you can save a ton of money on a used hemi.

I grew up in the muscle car era. I bought a pretty nice looking 66 Mustang Notchback with a 6 cyl and 3 speed stick. It was cheap to buy and insurance was cheap and being a real slug, it probably saved me from getting in a wreck. Of all my buddies that bought real hot muscle cars, Shelby Mustangs, hemi Roadrunners, GTO's, 442's, hemi Cudas, every single one of those guys wrecked their cars! My younger brother had a beautiful 69 Charger 383 335hp. He managed not to wreck it, but the guy he sold it to immediately totaled it. In retrospect, I'm glad I never owned a hemi when I was younger.
