5th Annual Rockin' Spring Meet

Date: June 6th, 2009

Time: I would suggest showing up at the park between 10:00 and 11:00. That way the folks driving out on Saturday don't have to start too early. We have the shelter all day, so people can stay as late as they want.

Place: Lincoln Park, 524 Treadwell Drive Galesburg, IL 61401

Official Hotel: Super-8, Knoxville, IL (8 miles from park). Located at Exit 51 on I-74, next door to a McDonalds, fairly new, indoor pool, free wireless Internet.

Deadline for motel rooms May 3, 2009 NOON central time. After that, any un-reserved rooms from the block will be canceled.

Food: will be catered by Hy-Vee's Back-yard Barbecue. Since this setup is priced by what is ordered, it will be al-a-carte, but is priced very reasonable.

Menu:
Hot Dogs: $1.50, Hamburgers: $4.00, Cheeseburgers: $4.50, Bratwurst: $3.00, Grilled Pork Loin Sandwich: $4.50,
Grilled Chicken Breast Sandwich: $4.00, Rib-Eye Sandwich: $6.00, Canned Pop and Bottled Water: $1.00

Door Prizes: There will be door prizes for kids. We need to know how many children with each car so we have enough toys for them. We have lots of good stuff lined up for the meet. here are just a few that we can tell you about.

1 - Killerglass radiator hose kit for any model LX from Killerglass.

1 - 25% discount on a US Speedo Custom Instrument Cluster from Nathan at Red Fox Racing.

2 - $40.00 gift certificates from Jina's Embroidery


The main reason to start this is the motel situation in Galesburg that weekend. IMPORTANT: This is the same weekend as graduation at Knox College. MOTEL ROOMS ARE IN VERY SHORT SUPPLY. We have a block of 20 rooms at the Super-8, for Friday and Saturday, and they have about 12-15 more rooms not reserved as of yesterday, but they wouldn't let me block more than 20. Many of the open rooms not in the block are Kings. All rooms in the block are double queen, 15 non-smoking and 5 smoking. I also have 6 rooms reserved at the Comfort Inn, which is only a mile from the park, but would prefer not to use them unless we fill the Super-8, so everyone can be together. My recommendation is for anyone wanting a King size bed, is to reserve at the Super-8 ASAP at 309-289-2100, and for anyone wanting a room from the block to send me a PM and I will give them the details to reserve it in their name and CC.

This year FREE to attend the event. NO entry fee

Just a note about the park rules. NO ALCOHOL is permitted in the park. No burnouts or speeding. The park is open to the public, and while we have the pavillion reserved for our exclusive use, the rest of the park facilities can be used by members of the public. There is a lot of space between the trees on around the pavillion that we can use, so bring any yard games you want.

I am off from work that entire weekend....woo hoo! Therefore, you can count me down as attending ( 1 Adult). Now my wife's not a big fan of the car show scene, so asking her to attend is really a bit much from her perspective. However I will be working on her and the kids to come with.

I plan on driving in Friday the 5th, late afternoon to arrive sometime early evening. I will be staying both Friday and Saturday nights.

So for now, count me in Fondy for 1 Adult and if there's anything else needed as far as help, assistance, etc etc, you know how to get a hold of me.
