When I was a kid I remember watching a 5.0 5 speed Mustang do the same thing. The guy had to be the big show and smoke his tires for a lot longer than necessay in the water box and of course overshot the staging lights. He then backed up and stayed in reverse. His opponent was a beat up 80 something Ford Tauras. It was funny watching the Stang going rocketing backwards and inevitably lose to the Tauras. Idiots.

That is hilarious. You know, I have witnessed something like this first hand. You see, here in North Carolina, we have a rich tradition in having burnout competitions (yes really, the big event is right before christmas and the winner get put into the paper.....I know we are severe rednecks). My brother had a Porsche 911 at the time, and he wanted to be billy badazz, so he goes out in front of the whole crowd, and honestly i cannot remember why he put it into reverse, maybe to get in the wet box, but forgot about it and let her rip. one of the funniest things that everyone has witness, however I was highly embarrassed at the time. AHHHHH, yes....we live the simple life!!
