No regulator just a current limit resistor probably, this won't stop what I am talking about, trust me.

I believe these are the new version also, they came with what appears to be some type of regulator built into the red wire (you can see a little bit of it under the phone in the second picture).

Do I have to worry about my car burning down while it sleeps, or only when I have the halos on? I wired mine with relays if that makes any difference???

You should also note that while obviously they wont randomly combust into flames if they arent being used, just because there is no visible fire when you shut the car off doesnt mean that it isnt happening. When this happened to me, I parked the car with everything turned off and walked away from it.... thought nothing of it. Little did I know what was brewing behind that headlight, which eventually turned into a fire that easily could have engulfed my entire car, and resulted in almost $15k worth of damages.

These things are meant to be used in a computer, regulated 12vdc. Our cars do not have that, so eventually the units will catch fire.
Not only that, but these inverters should be nowhere near the engine bay and exposed to such temperatures like they are. You said it yourself that they are designed to be used in a computer where they will pretty much never see the kind of temps and conditions that one can find in an engine bay.
