1. They are.

2. "Future product" but I wouldn't bet on it.

It shows, and MANY members here applaud you for it. My SRT is, by far, the easiest to work on car that I've owned in the last 15 years.

Was this done to reduce costs, change the exhaust note or because having it open does not improve performance? Is there a specific year or model SRT8 that has a functional X-pipe? Thanks for your time.

300 SRT8's were open, Charger SRT8's were close. This was done to give the Charger a different exhaust note. Having it open was a VERY minor change on performance.

The car was spending the majority of its time between 4k and 6k rpm and after 2 30 minute stints with an hour in between each the powersteering gave out. After letting everything cool down for 2 hours i attempted to drive again and the pump completely failed after 1 lap (braking into a hard right hand turn after the 130mph straight) The power steering fluid was at the correct level at the start of the day and prior to the final stint. I have since added a large power steering cooler (along with oil and trans coolers) and I would like to know if there is anything else i should do to increase the pumps longevity.
The larger cooler will help if you had and overheating issue.... but we have run these vehicles (stock) for 24 hours each (8 hours per day) without any powersteering issues.

Two SRT8's so far, 101,000 miles and nary a peep mechanically out of these vehicles. A HUGE improvement over my two CTS-V's. Kudo's to you and your TEAM for designing/engineering a great vehicle that really stands up to tough driving.

Please disregard my sig' as my car is stock.

No changes from 08 to 09, or no changes from 06 through 09???? From first-hand experience in a controlled environment, I can tell you my car (09 SuperBee) with the same mods (as a couple 06's and an 08) gets out accelerated from a dead stop or rolling start all the way through at least third gear. Especially off launch, the timing drop is substantial causing a bogging down effect that is seen at every gear change afterward. Others with 09's have reported similar results.

On a different note, with cold air intake and cat back exhaust, what is the recommended spark plug gap on the SRT's? I've had some folks suggest that the plugs aren't necessarily gapped consistently and I would just like to have that "number" to check mine against.

carter doesn't look like much now, but drinking milk does wonders
What year models of the SRT8 Charger have a functioning x-pipe installed? I have an 2007 that already had an aftermarket exhaust installed with the suitcase and two rear mufflers. The suitcase was two 3" inlet/outlet straight through design with no x-pipe function. When I contacted the manufacturer of the exhaust they said dyno numbers showed better results without the x-pipe. I did not believe this and cut out the suitcase and installed a 3" x-pipe. Car seems to run better and the fuel mileage has improved. Any comments on this I would greatly appreciate. Thanks.
