    5.7 HEMI oil capacity

I posted a thread on hemi oil capacity becuse my dealer was charging me for 8 quarts of oil. Everybody came back and 7 quarts was the answere ( including FNKY)and that's what the manual said. I took it to another dealer and was charged for 7 quarts. The only dif was the filter p/n 5281090-BA for 7 qts and the 8 qts and filter was(f)5281090. Is there a dif in filter capacity? Thanks in advance.

None that I know about. It was probably a difference in the two dealer's parts systems. That's the reason for the part number difference. One dealer obviously made a typo or are trying to steal some money from you. Take the recipt back to the dealer that overcharged you with the owner's manual and state your case to the service director or service manager. If they don't help you go straight to the owner if possible.

Actually, when I change my oil, it only takes 6.5 quarts to fill it up.

I guess .5 quart of old oil stays in the motor.

I think the 7 quart fill is for a completely "dry" motor.

Also remember, any shop/dealership will charge you the one full quart price for any part of a quart they use. It does not matter where the oil comes from. (Quarts or a big drum).

I take my own Mobile one to the dealer and they said to bring 8qts. I have done this twice and both times they have only used 7. I don't understand why they need 8.

I check the oil after driving it for a few miles, no - I do not fill the filter first (used to, but now I just put a little oil in it.

I'd find an other place to change your oil or DITY. I bought 8 qts of Royal Purple and only used 7. That's filling the filter too.

Every time I use 7 quarts I end up slightly over full later. It will seem fine after filling and running the car for a minute or so and rechecking (after a letting the oil settle a little). But inevitably I'll be a little over full if I go check the oil after the car has set for a while.
