I have a Mopar cold air intake for the 6.1 and it has a dry element. is there a way to clean these? or is it better to just replace them with a cleanable type? any opinions on which one to replace it with would be nice.
You can purchase a cleaning/oiling kit from your dealer or any Mopar parts dealer who is a vendor here...runs about $16-$20......your filter should last the life of your car if maintained...

Mopar Super Center. I just bought a whole new filter for like 40 bucks.
OR just use soap and water like I did.

He said he's got the dry element I think. Use soap and water then throw it away and go grab a cheap Spectre filter at Autozone. You'll be amazed how much better your car can breadth.

Yes i do have the Dry element, I'll try to the soap and water, anyone know of a better filter to slap on there that would maybe work a little better? this one seems like it clogged up rather quickly, although i guess 20,000 miles of commuting i should expect that?
Just go to Autozone and get a $20 Spectre blue filter. Fits perfect and is oilable and cleanable. I swear your car will breath so much better. Mine did.
I had a dry filter CAI on my 05 Ram and washed it in the kitchen sink with the cleaning stuff from a K&N filter oiling kit. Washed it, let it dry fully, reinstalled without oiling, worked fine.
Good info on the Spectre filter... I have the Mopar CAI also and might go that route when the time comes.

The filter from moparsupercenter is a direct replacement. says mopar and i believe its oiled.
