Well in a recent thread someone said that PI just bends the stock fins to create the stall in their converts, I'm just here to state the facts about really goes on insided teh PI converters and how unique they really are.
1. PI uses a 245 style core, the only company to offer this, so we can offer more than 25 different setups for any combination that our customers need or desire.
1. PI torque converters can be equipped with STR as high as 2.53:1, an impossibility using a stock Mercedes torque converter core which all of our competitors use.
2. PI offers an unconditional warranty and free stall change for 2 years.
3. PI Mercedes torque converters have custom made parts and only reuse 1 part from the original torque converter while our competitors just modify the stock converter and charge high prices as if it was something special.
PI also uses a different cover for each stall, There is no way to bend that. You can look at the marks int eh cover and the angles of them tell the whole story. Each converter is built per specs of the car, weight/tq desired stall speed. So ever cover is going to be differnt for different cars. Hence, a 3k stall converter for a twin crew car making 600ft/lbs would only be around 2500 stall in a stock r/t the same weight.

uhm.....playing devils advocate here, I don't think PI was specifically referred to or even implied in that post.

We had that 4k stall opened up a few weeks back to get tighted up a little by a local company PTC I'll check and see if anyone took some. If not I will ask PI for some when they redo my stall.
Why the different colors?Does that represent the stall??
The main difference is the angle of the imprints on the front cover. Which you can see are a lot more slanted on the 4k vs 3k stall. This isn't something you can "bend" its a different part for each stall.
