Hazman's How to Cut Out Lesson

I'm using Photoshop CS3(Windows Version) for this lesson
    Open up your photo

    I use these settings
More Feathering will give a softer edges
Larger Width will give you a larger tool
Contrast will look at the differences in dark and light areas that you are cutting out
Frequency put down more or less anchors

After the first pass of the Magnetic lasso you need to change tool to the Lasso

With this tool you can chip away the area you missed
Be sure to hold down the key for cutting /adding

After you have a good section
From the Edit pull down menu Copy and then Paste into a new layer
Will need to get a small eraser and clean up your edges

    That's it
    Easy

Nice thanks for sharing, just wanted to add, I prefer the pen tool over the magnetic wand and the polygon or lasso tool... for the beginner its defiantly nice to use the magnetic wand but if your wanting nice clean cutouts, I'd recommend learning how to use the pen tool to make a selection.

Some other tutorial i found that is good for learning to use the selection tool to add to your already nice walk-through.

Thanks Hazman. I need all of the help I can get!

When you do things right, people won't be sure you've done anything at all.
