Can I tune the diablo for 87 octane

I was about to purchase the Diablo. I noticed they only advertise 91 and 93 octane tune. I usually by 89 gas is there even a tune for 89 or even 87. Or would all of the mpg gain be done with 91 so I will have to buy more expensive gas. I want to run the 93 tunes on just those special weekends.
Plus the best price I found is on Ebay for like 360.00 shipped with the usb update, can that be beat?

I am running the 89 tune and its great. I got 315 miles on this last tank (19.5 MPG) about 50/50 highway/city driving. And I drove it HARD. I used to only get about 270 on a tank, even less if I drove it real hard.
Starting over with a new Magnum RT (SRT8 Conversion)... 6.1L with SRT Max Cam, Corsa catback with chambered center pipes, Sinister Extreme dual ram intake system, SRT Suspension, silver Brembos, graphite powder coated Charger SRT wheels, frost white intake manifold (ported) and valve covers, matte black engine bay, carbon fiber engine accents, 300C SRT8 Front end, Matte White vinyl wrap, Black Ops 300-Challenger style carbon fiber hood. 89 is the stock tune, and you can tweek that too I believe. Ditto the warning on the EBAY sellers, you may get one thats locked then your screwed! also make sure if you buy one from a vendor they're recognized by Diablo as a seller same goes with tuners! Diablo has a web site/forum that can answer all your questions completely!!! have fun!

For the V6 Diablo there is a modified stock tune and there is also the 89, 91, and 93 tunes. The 89 tune is different than the stock tune.

I can say after driving Rwalshphoto's car the 89 tune is far from stock....

The responsiveness is increased the shifts are more aggressive and the car drives much more efficiently, i was bummed to have to get back into my Magnum with no tune

The 91 tune does pull harder a bit off the line and also at freeway speeds (more so than the 89 tune). I plan to go back to the 91 tune if gas prices are ever reasonable again. But until then...

Ok Im sold so the 89 tune alone is noticeable thats great. My car feels like it just woke up this is going to be fun. Also I am a pretty technical person the usb cable seems to be just a usb to serial cable and the power seems to look pretty standard. So as long as I no the voltage I would be cool. I have a usb to IO that looks just like that. Now please dont get mad at me. I no there are supporting vendors to this community Im just pretty good at saving a penny. and I may be wrong but the update cables look pretty simple. Any way on Website the ebay warning states anything before July I think. Also what happened to that site that sold it for 300 after you hit buy it now. I'm so excited gonna burn up some more money!!!

Now does any body have any info on the best deal.

I would also like to mention I have put 87 in my tank on more than a few occasions my car has never skipped a beat. Thats why my orignal question referrenced 87 octane. So if I did run the 87 on the 89 tune would it be bad or worse than factory due to the diablo specific settings?

I asked the same question in regards to running 89 with the 91 tune and the answer was...its not recommended. Yes you COULD do it, because the knock retard sensors will pull timing when need be. But if for some reason they dont do the job properly you could damage your engine....not worth the extra $3 per tank for 89 instead of 87.

That rite there is a good point I never did the math of how much it was after the fill up. I always just look at the price cry then depending on how I feel then try to choose 89 if its the best around. But when you look at it like that I can just say just pump 1 gallon less.
    Thanks.
