5.7L Jeep Grand Cherokee info please

Hey just looking to get some info, wanting to get something in the SUV area for the bitter half, she likes big fast cars, hey she is german ok. Anyway, we live in Germany (I am American on base) and she wants something big, was thinking about getting another charger (I have an RT ) but was looking at a Scat Pack for her, then we started looking at a Durango RT but since we only have a teenager that's too much. ALSO she has to drive to work everyday about 35-40 mins one way (but german autobahn and she has a lead foot). In the end I think I will settle on a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L-75th Anniversary Edition, she would be happy with that. NOW my question is, would it kill us at the gas pump considering she has to drive about 40 mins one way and back 5 days a week, provided I can get her to drive semi-normal (like I said Lead Food Speed Freak). Just interested in any info from someone who uses one as a daily driver. Any opinions?

Grand Cherokee is a nice ride.I have one with the old 3.7 V6, but it still drives very nice. I'd expect gas milage with the mds Hemi would be no worse than other gas SUV's, maybe 22 mpg. You should rather try to find one with the Ecodiesel, if you want economy. Those are very economical and reasonably quick. Can't buy anymore in the USA, been looking, they embargoed em, but heard a lot are going for export. If you get any snow, you will see why the GC's are so popular. Best winter vehicle ever!

Thanks for the info, I am leaning more and more towards a Grand Cherokee, the Audo Q5's are nice, but hella expensive over here, and there is only so much you can do with them for looks, I can mod out a Cherokee a bit more. :-)

I have an overland. I also have a 55 min highway commute, my average speed is 65mph. I usually get 450 miles out of a full tank. I found that on an extended highway trip with the cruise set at the speed limit, it will get around 550 miles from a full tank. My mpg logger usually reads around 20 mpg highway-thats real world. Shes gonna have to keep that heavy foot in check if you want to see good mpg, do not buy the 6 cylinder. Great ride, good looks, she should love it.
