Just try to grind these gears! Demon Gears, Torque Convertor Detailed

    Demon Gears, Torque Convertor Detailed

The newest information on the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon was released this morning and this week, we learn about the rear gears and the torque convertor – both of which offer 18% better torque multiplication when compared to the Hellcat Challenger.

We learned a few weeks back that the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon will wear Nitto NT05R drag radial tires which were designed specifically for this car, with a unique construction and composition from the NT05R tires already on sale for everyone else. These tires are stickier and wider than the tires on the Hellcat, measuring 12.6 inches wide and allowing the Demon twice the grip of the Hellcat.

Well, it seems that the traction of the Challenger Demon is so good that Dodge has gone ahead and engineered this new muscle car to send significantly more power to the rear wheels on launch with the addition of a new torque convertor and a new rear gearset.

Dodge hasn’t announced the stall RPM for this new torque convertor, but we know that this new component will yield 18% better torque multiplication compared to the unit in the Hellcat. Mind you, this doesn’t include any additional power from the Demon engine, but regardless of the output, the Demon transmission will multiply the torque output from the engine by 18% more than the Hellcat convertor.

Next, when the power moved through the driveshaft to the rear differential, it will come to the next unique feature of the 2018 Challenger Demon in the form of a new 3.09 gear set. This is 18% more aggressive than the 2.62 gears in the Hellcat, which leads to 18% more torque multiplication at the wheels.

In total, the new torque convertor and the 3.09 gears will offer more than 35% better torque multiplication on launch and when you launch the 2018 Dodge Challenger Demon with the drag radials, the tires will wrinkle up as displayed in the photo above before rocketing the car down the track.
In addition to the information on the gears and torque convertor and the image of the wrinkled up tires, we also get our newest Demon teaser video, which you can check out above.

Smart, Hemi car parts and tuning vendors were quick to apply these easy mods to bolt straight to the tens and lower. Now F-C is seizing on the opportunity!

Good for them. Probably will be harder to hook on the street with more gear and converter

Well, the 35% figure has to be one of the answers to the license plate riddle, right? So what would 2576 stand for? "X at 35% better torque multiplication on launch"

I bet the 2576 is 2.576 displacement of supercharger.
