Hey just looking to get some info, wanting to get something in the SUV area for the bitter half, she likes big fast cars, hey she is german ok. Anyway, we live in Germany (I am American on base) and she wants something big, was thinking about getting another charger (I have an RT ) but was looking at a Scat Pack for her, then we started looking at a Durango RT but since we only have a teenager that's too much. ALSO she has to drive to work everyday about 35-40 mins one way (but german autobahn and she has a lead foot). In the end I think I will settle on a Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7L-75th Anniversary Edition, she would be happy with that. NOW my question is, would it kill us at the gas pump considering she has to drive about 40 mins one way and back 5 days a week, provided I can get her to drive semi-normal (like I said Lead Food Speed Freak). Any opinions?

My 5.7L Durango does about 22mpg running close to 80mph but MDS is still active so its in 4 cyl mode.
At 100+mph...no way is MDS functioning so I would expect under 15mpg..maybe 12 or less depending how much over 100 were talking about.
Not sure what top end would be...130mph if no limiter is in place?

Honestly if she's going to drive aggressively you're going to get raped in fuel expenses if you go with an SUV period, I drive 52mi each way on my daily commute, 67 mi each way now that I'm doing the school run as well and with cruise control locked in at 80mph with some city driving mixed in here and there I get 18-20mpg, if I get aggressive on the acceleration that quickly drops. This is in a Magnum which weighs less and has a better drag coefficient than the Cherokee...just my $0.02.
