How to remove the door panels
by Jim

Whats Required:

The tools that are required are:

* Phillips Head Screw Driver
* Trim Tool, or a flat rigid tool that can be used for prying(i.e. a butter knife)
* Pliers

Removal:

* Remove "Hidden" screws:
There are two hidden screws on the door trim.
o Upper (Fig. 1)
Remove the cover by inserting the trim tool at the bottom of the cover and pulling out and up.
o Lower (Fig. 2)
Remove the cover by inserting the trip tool at the top of the cover and pulling out and down.

* Remove Push Tabs:
There are three push tabs that have to be removed (Fig. 3). To remove them take a blunt instrument and push in the middle of the tab (Fig. 4) and pull it out. To reinstall the tab push the middle back through the tab so that its sticking out the front.

* Remove Screws:
There are four screws holding the door trim on along the lower and front edges.

* Removing the Trim:
o Pull the lower half away from the door enough that the trim can be moved upward.
- There are 2 plastic extensions on the trim that fit into the door to hold it in place. By pulling the lower half of the door out you are moving them out of their sockets allowing the door panel to be moved upwards.(Fig. 5)
- There are 3 plastic push pins hold the upper half of the trim onto the door. (Fig. 6) When I pulled mine off the just pulled off the trim and stayed in the door so I had to remove them manually using the pliers after the trim was completely removed. They just slide right back onto the trim.
o Gently pull the trim upwards but do not pull it away from the door yet!
- Pay close attention to the door lock pin on the upper right corner. (Fig. 7)
o After the trim has been pulled over the door lock pin pull the panel away from the door about 6 inches. When you look between the trim and the door you'll see the door handle lever attached to the door handle. You need to disconnect that from the handle by twisting the white holder thats on the handle counter clock wise until it releases the lever. (Some how I missed getting a picture of this step)
o Disconnect any wiring harnesses that are attached to the door panel, on the Magnum this will most likely just be the power window/locks switch and power mirror adjuster. (Fig. 8)
o Now gently pull the panel away from the door and set aside. Be sure to put it on something secure and soft. The material used on the door panel can be easily scuffed or dinged so be careful. I recommend putting down a blanket to set it on well away from your work area.

Installation

* Start by connecting the wiring harnesses.
* Reconnect the door handle lever, be sure to secure it by twisting the white holder onto it clock-wise.
* Slide the panel down onto the door being sure to slide the door lock pin through its hole.
* Reinsert the white push pins into their slots to hold the door in place while you finish reinstalling the trim.
* Reinsert the push tabs. To lock them push the middle back in so that is flush.
* Screw the four lower screws back in.
* Screw the two upper screws back in and push their covers back into place.

Thanks DMAG. I had the door panels off again today and just as I was about to button up the last one it occurred to me that I should have taken pictures. Doh!

I find the most difficult thing to be removing the three pins at the top of the door. Those things are tight!

The two at the rear of the door will slide out of the door panel if you push the rear of the panel up. You need to do that to get the door lock pin out of the door. Just go a bit more and the two rear pins should pop out.

Once the back to pins are out, the pin at the front of the door will pop out if push the panel to the rear.

Also, be careful not to push in too hard on the push pins around the edges of the door in to far. I pushed one completely out and it fell into the bottom of the door! Luckily I had some extras.

I think that's because those pics are different doors, and even different cars. One is Red, other is black. Some doors have 6.5" round speakers, some have 6x9

I just got a 2005 Magnum R/T, slate grey interior, it's missing the screw cover cap behind the driver's side door handle, as shown in Fig. 1 in the op here. Anyone happen to know where I could find one of those, or what it's called, so I can try & hunt one down?

I found the part number and what it's called -
1EF41XDVAA
'door panel plug'. the part number is for a slate grey interior. may also be listed as 1EF41XD-VAA
Now all I have to do is find one.

Rear Door Panel Removal

How do you remove the rear door panel? I got everything else disconnected but I dont think the rear handle is the same as the front. I dont see any "white holder" for the rear.
Does anyone have specific instructions for the rear door panel removal? Is it the same procedure as the front doors? Any help would be greatly appreciated. The small triangles near the rear of the doors, on the outside, are beginning to show some rust. I need to remove and repair those. It looks as though I need to remove those from the inside, most likely a bolt or something accessible from inside the door.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I got the door panel off with no problems, now I'm having a hard time getting those 3 white pins out. One came out with the panel and the other two are relentless. I pryed on them and the plastic is starting to break. Will the door just snap back over them?

THREAD RESURRECTION! My rear passenger door lock is getting sticky and only works sometimes. I want to remove the panel and take a look inside.

Is there a lubricant or oil recommended to lube that type of thing?!

Thanks,
