meet,greet,installation,road trip, laps
Hey everyone, check this out. I play on 5 different softball leagues here in my area and one of my team mates on my Tuesday night league owns a track. I have not seen it yet but I am making a trip down to it with him next week time permitting. Here’s what I know so far. It’s a 1/2 mile road course about 22 feet wide with some really technical turns on it. It was originally designed for 3/4 scale carts. He purchased the 15 acre property about a year ago and is currently trying to purchase an adjacent 15 property in order to turn it into a 2 mile track 30 foot wide with all the facilities to go along with it. He says right now the track itself is in really good shape but not wide enough for side by side racing but great for autocross type stuff (racing the clock for best lap times). he also says the facility as a whole looks crappy but the local police and fire department have been volunteering to help clean it up and he has had several cart groups rent it every other week and he is in the process of trying to get the other property and revamp the facility to get it up to a respectable standard to attract some SCCA type racing and if their is room on the property and in the budget to build an 1/8th mile drag strip. All that being said, I was thinking that maybe I could put together a meet and greet here at our shop one weekend and even install the Viper wheels, or any other wheels we sell for everyone and grab a bite to eat and head down to the track and take some laps. It would give us a chance to meet some of you, sell some wheels and tires, fill our stomachs and help my buddy out on his track project that in the future could benefit all of us. Right now if memory serves me correct he says he rents the track out for only $750 for the day. Which I’d be willing to pay for if we sell enough wheels and tires that weekend but I would like to see everyone who comes to the track to race donate a few bucks of their own to help out the track. I am not sure what’s a good number for a donation but I think $20 would be a good start. He said the biggest turn out so far has been 30 guys and he said everyone got plenty of seat time. He says he should be able to accommodate 50 with no problem. So if anyone is interested. We are in Atlanta and the track is about 1 hour from here depending on traffic. So everyone chime in and let me know what you think. My idea is maybe sometime in February. My birthday is on the 7th, so maybe we can add that in as part of the celebration. Being in Georgia, it’s not really cold here and the track is an hour south, so the temp. Should be great. whatta you think????
I think we should help him out when we convoy up there what do you think brothers?
