Where's the Southern boys and girls???

We're really hoping a lot of you guys will make it up for the May event. There's still plenty of time left to make arrangements to come. This is going to be the biggest event in 2006 devoted just to the LX vehicles for the Eastern half of the US. We've pulled out all of the stops in order to make this the most memorable event ever! Right now we have more Canadians making the trek down than we do Southerners making the trip up. This Eastern event just won't be the same without you guys.

We'd really love to have you guys up for the Big Meet and we're really hoping you guys can make it. I know that a lot of you guys are on the fence, too. If there's anything we can do to help in anyway to help you with the ride up, just let us know. We can help arrange a cruise line if you guys want to meet up with others and make the trip together. The drive's not bad at all. Heck, I drove down the 11 hours to Alabama in the fall for Hammer Fest with BrillianBlackHemi and it was a breeze. Piece of cake. Let me know what we can do to coordinate you guys coming in?

That's awesome KGBPro! Hopefully we can get a long caravan of you guys coming up since the journey, cruising down the interstate 5, 10, 20 strong is more than impressive and a whole lot of fun, too. Just the trip alone would be an adventure in itself.

Perhaps if it was not held in New England (or the front gate thereof) and called an East Coast M&G. A lot of people are either unable or unwilling to drive from the other end of the country for merely a weekend. Especially as it is at least a full day's drive...one way.

    Simon,

Thanks for your input. The selection of Englishtown was made by all of the forum members months ago. We asked for everyone's input and posted polls on all of the forums and the vast majority of people voted for Englishtown over the other two final choices which were Pennsylvania for the Chrysler Nationals and Maryland, in Ocean City. We've asked for member input 100% of the way since this event is YOUR event. This is the biggest event of the year for all of the Eastern forum members and other LX enthusiasts to get together. For the Eastern US, NJ is close to being at the mid-point along the Eastern seaboard. We know that not everyone will be able to make the drive but with an event such as this, it's not uncommon at all for members to make the trek in, whether it takes one day, possibly more. In the end, we're here to make sure that your travels are well worth it. I've driven long distances and flown across the US to make it to meets and not once would I regret doing so. Seeing the fellow forum members who I consider family and who also treat me as the same makes these events more special. Trust me, if you make the meet you will never regret your decision to make the drive in. And the one thing I have learned is that the harder it is to make it to a meet, the more you enjoy it, too, because there's also that sense of accomplishment that goes along with everything else. What myself and several of your forum members are doing is putting together an event that is not just based on these cars but also has the feel of a family reunion to it. Ideally, that's what these events are. It's a family reunion with a lot more pomp and circumstance, a little burnt rubber, and a drop of high octane racing fuel. We would love for everyone in the country to attend but we know that's just not possible so we encourage everyone that's East of the Mississippi to come out and enjoy the weekend with us.

    Hope to see you there!

Simon, there is an airfield right next to the track. You could always fly in.

Yes....I am quite sure that 'all the members' from NJ, MA, NY, etc. are very happy with it's selection. However, I would hardly call Newark, New Jersey the 'midpoint of the east coast'. Unless, of course, one believes that the east coast ends somewhere just south of the VA/NC border. Nevertheless, we've strayed from the point.

The point is that many people would prefer to drive to such an event. Not driving would be somewhat like arriving at the golf course with a bathing suit in your bag, wouldn't it? To place an event like this at such a distance and then expect members to invest a minimum of three days (probably even longer once one considers time spent there) to attend is one thing. To express surprise that they seem unwilling to spend vacation time from their employment for you is another matter entirely.

If you wish to get more attendance from those further south....perhaps a better choice of venue in the future might be of help.

Indeed, I could. However, my weekends are already spoken for. I'd not be able to make it either way. I was merely observing the most likely reason you were seeing more attendance from those closer than those at such a distance..

I'm not expressing any surprise in the slowness of the people that have the furthest to drive to register. What I am doing is giving encouragement to them and personally extending the invitation to them to come out to this LX event. Sometimes that's all it takes. Two people say they're coming, then another and another and before you know it, there's ten or twenty people who are coming. Why? Because they see that so many other people are doing it and it's a relief knowing that if others can do it, so can they. You've seemed to just focus on the negatives and ignored all of the positives. For those that decide to make the trip, this event will be well worth the drive. Of the 320 LX owners that showed up in Southern California last month, many of which drove a full day to get there, I don't think any of them regretted their decision to attend.

But also, it seems from your post that you see this as an HHP event and that's why I feel that people should come out. This event has nothing to do with ME or HHP . We started putting these Meet 'N Greets on because there was a lot of people that were interested in having them but no one had taken the initiative. I've committed thousands of dollars to this event alone because these events are our way of giving back to you guys and to this forum for all of your business and for making us the largest distributor of LX parts. We're able to use our name in order to make these events bigger and better and we have a lot more pull, too. For this May's event we have a team made up of forum members who are handling a lot of the planning, too. This event is YOUR event. People are spending a weekend with other forum members. This forum imparticular is a very tight forum and all this is is a forum event. We know not all 2500 forum members on this side of the US will make it but there's no reason to give any discouragement to anyone thinking of coming. And if it's the venue that you don't like, please speak up next time we ask for everyone's input and ask where the forum members would like the next event held.

Wait, now I'm off in left field, lol. Anyway, I don't mean anything personally by this post. I'm here to build the energy for this meet. We've got a great event planned and the more people we have attending, the better the meet is for everyone involved.

    Thanks!

Maybe you should look to see where Maine is in relation to S.Jersey.

Then why are you so adamant about the location of an event you have no intention of attending? Josh is a standup guy with the best of intentions for all of us LXers. Planning an event like this takes alot of time, effort and committment. I among many others thank and applaude all he has done.
