After many weeks of anticipation - Senior Chicken himself, our very own FnkyChkn finally made an appearance somewhere else besides the forum!
Having scheduled this meet several weeks out, we were all quite anxious to meet the Great Chkn in person! After all of the advice, all of the wisdom, and sincerest commitment to this group, we finally got to shake this man's hand. Pete ... It was a great honor to finally meet you and shake your hand. After all you've done for all of us here, we thought a little gift from us, to you was in order to show our appreciation for all you've done.
This afternoon was to be special! Not only did we have a wonderful turnout of almost 20 cars, and almost twice that number in actual attendees, but we got to finally give something back to Pete. We as the Central Florida LX Group presented Fnky with an engraved plaque in his honor. (I'm mad at myself I didn't get a closeup pic of the plaque after we got it from the trophy place.) I might be mistaken, but I think I noticed Pete got a little teary-eyed just after we handed him the plaque.Only a moment later he could be seen making his way around the circle we had formed in the Race Rock parking lot, shaking each and every person's hand, and thanking each of us. Most of the members actually had no idea of the presentation we were making. I think it was quite a surprise!
Several of us left a mark today, in more than one way. Pete, I believe was very touched by the whole thing, and...well...those weren't the only marks left. The asphault in the parking lot now has some permenant scars to remember this day. Hey...a lil' rubber never hurt anybody.
Hey...what's in here? LoL!
