    Bummer

I have to work that night. But I might be able to make it on the May 19th date. Too soon to tell yet. Have fun and post those slips!

Major bummer there, dude! We'll have some slips for ya, though. I just bought a new T'stat yesterday and the hardware to make my own "25 cent fan mod". For that matter, I have enough hardware to make several of them. I'll make a few spares for anyone else that shows up and wants one.

Here that N. Ga. LX'ers?!?? Show up for the races and get a FREE mod!!

    Unhappy

Due to my pup still being on medication, I don't know if I'll be able to make it to the strip this coming friday or not. If I do, I'll be pretty late getting there since I'll have to go home before heading out for the drive to Commerce.

Hope the pup does better soon! I'm hoping to make the May open date but I just won't know for another week or so. I haven't been to commerce in a decade, need to get my butt out of the house more... all work & no play ...

May 19th is right around the corner!

Who's going to the Friday Night Test-n-Tune at Atlanta Dragway?

Exit 149 of I85 and you are almost there!!

I'll be there in Commerce when they open, around 5:30-6pm.

The Last Run of The Night

It was a dark and stormy night...

    Whoops! Wrong venue

Well, it /was/ dark and while not really a 'storm', it did start to rain not long after DawsonMagnum made it thru tech and got in the very long line for the staging lanes. Timing is everything, and Glenn's timing couldn't have been worse. Bummer Man..he didn't even get one pass in before it started to rain

I got to make 14 passes at Atlanta Dragway last night - just had a cool time, but my motor wasn't too cool - 4 passes were 4 minutes apart, 4 more were 6 minutes apart, one 10 minute interval while I had a smoke and changed from 91/Perf to 91/paddle-kick, reduced TM and raised shift points. Even with the 170 thermostat and the fan jumper mod in, I was still staging in the 190's most of the evening.

The last pass of the evening, I changed the tune to 91/perf/reduced tm/raised shift points which I like the best for the track. I waited about 30 minutes for my turn, so hood up, running the motor for a couple minutes now and again to move coolant around and I'm down to 170-ish when I staged. That produced the best run of the day, and while my .020 light wasn't the closest it was the lowest positive number. A -.009 is cool, but still a redlight, so I don't count that.

    Best 60' of 2.142, Best 330' of 6.015, Best 1/8th at 9.166 at 78.79, Best 1000' of 11.890 and best 1/4 of 14.193 at 98.06, also fastest trap speed.

Proves yet again, the MDS-equpped 345cu.in 5.7L Hemi makes more power when cool(er).

I made one pass with the A/C enabled and lost 3/10's (14.586) that was in the middle of a string of 14.2xx's, I call it worth almost 3/10's to turn off the A/C. :-)

I met a couple who were there racing their Gomango Charger Daytona who promised to check out lxforums.com - they hadn't run yet, so no times and I never saw them again. Some real serious iron was out last night, and lots of it - my last run showed I was the 335th pass of the day, first run I was 4th!

A major highlight of My Day though was seeing the WhiteRice (Civic? Lots of carbon-fiber, big fat front tires, no wing) next to me cut a perfect light - ".000" to my asleep-at-the-wheel .228, and I still ran him down, 14.291 to 14.691..How sweet was that? Getting your perfect light spoiled by a Big Fat American Station Wagon! His buddies were razzing him good!

Here's hoping we get some more Atlanta area LX'ers out on June 9th, the next Friday night test-n-tune. Getting there at 17:30-18:00 gets you a bunch of hot laps before the main crowd shows up.

The guy in the White Caprice ex-Cop car with the 454 and hood scoop said that his group rents the whole track on November 4th (a Saturday) and all 4000lb Rear Wheel Drive vehilces (4 doors?) are welcome to come bracket race with the GM B-Body crowd.

I'll be there, anyone else interested?

    Mike

Timing was just awful all day. I left work later than I had planned (5pm instead of 3pm) and tried to quickly make the 45 minute drive home. That drive took about 2 hours and I arrived at 7pm. After walking the dog and removing some crap from the Magnum, I headed out. I arrived at the track about 8:30pm. I'm in line to race by 9pm. By 9:20, we hadn't moved up at all. Then it started raining. No Runs at ALL!!

And no refunds for my race fee $20
