Link up spots for convoy to LX Nats on 17 July

Ok here I go, I didnt see any posts with specific Rally Points for the trip to Ohio. So Im going to post my basic route for the 17th of July, then all that would like to join up along the way can come with, I havnt decided any times yet, but that will mostly depend on who is linking up and where, as well as convenient times for everyone else. Ill use junctions, or larger cities as tentative Rally Points, but those can be adjusted as the smaller groups or individuals would know the best locations to park and wait a few mins local to home.

Proposed Route and Proposed Rally Points (initial route will start at my start point but can have a different start to accommodate those further north and east)

Start:Watertown/Fort Drum NY 17 July 2009
Route: I81-S to Syracuse NY
RP: Syracuse NY (In vicinity of I81/I90)
Route: I90-W to Rochester NY area
RP: In vicinity of Rochester NY
Route: I90-W to Buffalo NY area
RP: In vicinity of Buffalo NY
Route: I90-W to Erie PA
RP: In vicinity of Erie PA

The next part I would like to have input on which way to go... *** EDIT Looks to be that the route will be choice A continuing on with the group from GTA ***

A) Continue I90-W to Ohio 11S, then south on 11 ending at LX Nats Hotel HQ.

B) From Erie head south on I79-S to the junction of I79/I80. At that RP, link up with LXers coming from NYC/NJ area heading west on I80 into Ohio.

End Point: LX Nats HQ hotel in OH

Remember this is just a rough plan and from my stand point, the overall route/RPs/link up times at RPs will be the decision of the group majority...

If there is enough interest I will start a list of who is going from where along that route, and we can generate the finalized RPs from that info.

I would also like to suggest that people in the Capitol District area of NY link up there and head west on I90 to link up with us in Syracuse.

i'll be coming south on 81 and meet you in Watertown.
perhaps we can hook up with the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) group in Buffalo.

Great idea Pete, somewhere in the Buffalo vicinity would work for us I imagine.
05silver, any idea what time you guys are planning on leaving? I'm pretty sure the Ontario gang will be heading out early aft 12-1(?) ish so that puts about an hour and 30 mins away from buffalo. If we could pick a time say 2 ish to meet in the area I think it would be awesome to add to the caravan.

I dont intend on making any solid start times, until a little closer to the NATs. I think it would be great idea to link up in Buffalo, and hopefully some of the LXers from further east that plan to take I90 will gain interest as well. I think once we have an idea of who/how many are coming from where, then times can be generated to please the majority.

Im looking for people to meet up with. Im not sure which way i'd be taking to PA either down south around NYC to jersey then PA and out all thrugh PA. or out to the western corner of NY down through a little bit of PA than to ohio. Either way i'd love to ride in a big caravan.

I have found a nice meeting point to meet up with you guys in Buffalo, Angola Travel Plaza, Angola, NY, just off I-90. If we could meet up there at before 1 pm (3 hours to HQ hotel from this point) and get on the road we could be in Ohio just after 4 pm. I have chatted with fnky and 05Silver, so maybe there is some more that can make this meeting point. This point is 3 h 40 min from Watertown and 1 h 40 min from where the Canadian convoy would start. Thoughts?????

There is going to be at least 2 of us traveling I-80 west all the way across PA from CT on the 17th. We would love to jump into the convoy somewhere on I-80. I travel that route from CT to Ohio at least twice a year & have for the past 13 years. So I know it pretty well. At the 80 & 79 interchange there really isn't much there at all when it comes to places to stop. So I'm thinking either exit 15 which is just one exit west of the interchange. OR there is a nice sized rest stop about 1 mile inside the Ohio state line. It's an easy on & easy off spot. Plus there are restrooms & vending machines there. Maybe that would be a more suitable rallying location???

Basic route, leave A Grimsby 10:00 - 10:30, hit B Gateway Niagara 10:25 - 10:55, reach the C Peace Bridge at 10:55 - 11:25 (giving 25 mins for the border), leave the border at 11:20 - 11:50, reach D Angola Travel Plaza, mile marker 447 I-90 W at 11:55 - 12:25 (giving 1 h 5 min for a stretch/bite eat and allows for longer border times), meet up with fnkychkn and 05Silver_C, leave plaza at 1:00- 1:30, pick up Novawagonmaster & U nEEd EarPLugz E at 2:50- 3:20, reach F HQ Hotel, 7410 South Ave, Boardman, OH 3:50-4:20.

Our group will be on GMRS 2-way radios. We have used channel 6 in the past, I say we use it again.
