    E-town

I am thinking about going to E-Town for my first time not as a spectator but to make some passes. When do you recommend going for just a test and tune to make some passes, I have never made a pass down the track before. Also what safety equipment is required for just a street driven car? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

That sounds great! This Saturday will be a good time for you to go, you can either race at our event or at the test and tune lanes if that's all you want to do, but at the same time you can hang out with all of us and check out our rides.
There's a thread going on right now about this weekends event.
About safety equipment... Just a snell 2005 rated helmet, no shorts, closed shoes/snickers (no sandals). You can also rent helmets at the track, but I recommend you bring your own even if you have to borrow one from a buddy.
    Hope that helps.

I would love to come this weekend up I have family commitments for the next to weekends. When do you guys run after that? It will also give me time to get a helmet and do some basic maintenance to the car before I go.

One more question, what type of helmet do most people run? open face or full face?

While racing with the group might be fun and informative, you might feel more comfortable learning on a day that is not so busy. Friday evenings are perfect for newbies, as you will normally get more time runs in a more relaxed atmosphere. If you come to the eighth mile track (yes, we have two drag strips) on a Sunday, I will give you personal instruction on how to get started. Make sure that you check the R.P. schedule to make certain that it is open on the day that you plan to run your car.
As far as helmets go, you should not depend on rental helmets as your car should run quicker than the 14.00 cut.

"any car running 14.00 and quicker in the 1/4 mile requires a Snell K98 or 2000 or newer OR SFI 41.1A helmet"

Some of you might want also to take note of the following:Minimum Clothing for Warmer/Summer Months
Must have Long Pants, not shorts. Sweats may be worn but not Nylon.
A shirt with sleeves like a t-shirt, not a tank top
