New Infraction System

With the new software comes the option of instituting an "Infraction System" to assist with moderating the forums as well as keep track of users who abuse the rules we have set in place to make the forums an enjoyable place for all to visit.

If a moderator or admin sees that you have violated the rules, they may give you an infraction. Each infraction is graded on a point system (kinda like how "moving violations" work

).

Here are the infractions we have created and their point value:

Insulted Other Member(s) 1
Signature Rule Violation 1
Inappropriate Language 1
Abuse Rep System 1
Abuse iTrader System 2
Severe Belligerence 3
Spammed Advertisements 5

We also may add additional infractions at any given time (check this thread for updates).

Each mod/admin can also create an infraction (and point weight) if a preset one is not applicable for any scenario. Also, (just like any good police officer) a mod or admin may elect to only give you a warning (an infraction with no point value). This is entirely up to the mod or admin and will be based on past actions by the member in question.

You will automatically be notified of any infraction by PM. Included in the PM will be the infraction and reason it was given to you.

Each infraction expires after a month. The point accumulated for the infraction will be subtracted from a member's total.

Any user that accumulates 10 points will automatically be banned (not necessarily permanently, but each judged case by case).

What..... no due process?

With a moving voilation, you can plead not guilty and present your defence to the judge, and even appeal their decision to a higher authority.

Not that I'm thinking I'm going to need to use this, just seeing if there are any in agreement, I figure there may be a future in Forum defence council.

Well, for number one, Insults: All I can say is it was nice knowing you folks.

Legit Q: Is this new law to be strictly inforced, or will the normal banter be allowed between friends.

Abuse Rep System: I can understand the begging for beans deal. But what about giving beans for a witty comment, not allowed anymore???.

Here is how the personal infraction system works in Hollywood. My attorney sues you for $1,000,000 for civil right violations, Freedom of Speech, Tax evasion and a host of other wonderful skeletons in the closest he digs up and you end up going bankrupt trying to defending yourself in court. Now that's how the real system works!

Just kidding!

Please don't give me a ticket. I can't afford the tax liability.

Difference is...on a moving violation, the court is taking the police officer's word for proof of a crime. We have your post.

C'mon now...since when have we ever made a deal about goofing on each other? You know by now what we consider real insults and belligerence. Also, "Bean begging" is what we consider to abuse of the rep system.

Guys, by now...the more senior members know our style of moderating which is quite lenient. Nothing changes here. We just have a "rap sheet" now for abusers of the rules.
