Thumbs up Remote Start Inst./Manual-courtesy of RobAGD

****Quick note (from page 1 of the install manual)...early build date Maggies (pre May/04) MUST replace WCM antenna/programming module (for keys) with NEW WCM #56038665AS or later version...currently 56038665AW. IF YOU DO NOT REPLACE THE MODULE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROGRAM KEYS OR THE REMOTE START KEY EMULATOR...***

Ask me how I know...heh...stupid dealership...it's AMAZING the things that they DON'T know...from their own manuals...

    thanks ROB...

I scanned it all in to my puter and made a PDF of it.

Its the INSTALL side of the remote start with the Programing options, mode sets and all that good stuff. I know I didn't get this back after my install and I thought it would be handy for some of the peeps out there.

So here it is. PLEASE don't link from other sights to the file, link them to this thread.

Annoying but true fact. The brake switch is a pain in the rear to access, especially if you have a higher end factory sound system, as the amp's in the way.

If you dig in to the harness going to the switch, there's two green with white wires (DUH!). If you have a meter to look at them, it's the one that is grounded when the brakes are on, not the one that gets 12 volts applied.

I could not get the connector off as I couldn't see what I was doing, and I wasn't ready to pull out the AMP and TCM to get to it.

Someone has an easier way, please share it for the next victim!

Then getting the wires through a second time, when you spend two hours figuring out why the phunk the thing won't work... Only to realise, you faithfully followed the instructions, but failed to read the pink sheet stuck in the middle of the installation book... Doesn't help when your friend who has an older unit, says, just ground the hood switch. No workie on the newer one. Can't bypass it.

For the Brake switch I just followed the wires down closer to the pedals and checked voltage as jaak described. Easier to access and still hidden nicely.

To get the wires into the engine compartment. Wire coat hanger with the hook and twisties cut off straightened and then just poke through where I believe it was the hood release cable went. Pop the brake fluid access cover off and the caot hanger end should be right there near the bottom fender side of the brake lines. Pull it through and yer done.

And take note on the pinkish sheet that jaak posted above the first unit I installed said the "4th wire" not the "4th pin" .. Nor was there a pic on the page like his posted image has.

It is indeed the "4th pin".

Caught the issue when I started looking through the papers inside that came with the second one I was to install (warmer inside and sit at desk) noticed a diff in the page went out to the garage and bang hit me like tonne of bricks. DOH!!!

How do I get the remote start to start the car when it's below -14*C, all that happens is the horn honks twice then honks twice again, starts perfectly with the key and the remote will start it once the car warms up?

when this happens, does the ignition turn on/honk twice/ign off?

No, it does not even try and start; the second set of twin honks is immediately after the first honks; above this temp it works fine. I was told by a dealer that these won't start below -14C which is weird as why would you put something like this in as the idea is to start a cold car .

sounds like a hood switch or brake switch issue.
as far as the -14C, that's BS. mine starts at -30C.
