    Auto-Dim Driver's Mirror

This documents the differences between memory mirrors and the heated folding mirrors. http://members.cox.net/lsstringer/KB...ifferences.pdf

This is how to modify the standard folding mirrors to auto-dim: http://members.cox.net/lsstringer/KB...%20Mirrors.pdf

This is how to connect/install the auto-dim modified mirrors:
    http://members.cox.net/lsstringer/KB...stallation.pdf

Enjoy! The auto-dim driver's mirror is a nice addition.

robin, do you need to have folding mirrors to make the auto-dim work? ie does the auto-dim glass fit the non-folding mirrors?

also, on page 5 of the auto-dim detail pdf, you say to take out 2 wires from the C205 connector for the 2-wire harness you made, but you never said which 2 wires?

also, i *think* any gentex mirror will output the auto-dim signal, im waiting for a reply to an email i sent to mito corp. they distribute the gentex after-market mirrors, gentex makes the OEM auto-dim mirrors. i have a 50-genk5 auto-dim w/compass rearview that i'm trying to make work with the auto-dim side mirrors. im thinking i can run 2 wires from the mirror to the door connector and bypass the C205 connector altogether, not sure on that yet. do you have any ideas on this?

    and thanks for the how-to!

I can tell you this: there are extra pins left on the Mito Corp mirrors on a standard installation, no pinout diagram is supplied in the install manual as to what they are for... imagine the possibilities if there is an output!

I believe all the mirror glass is interchangable. I put heated glass in non-folding mirrors & it normally comes in the folding. I moved the auto-dim glass from memory motors to non-memory motors. It should work.

I didn't get into the detail one gets from the service manual in my KB article. The pins are 6 (TN/OR) and 9 (TN/WT). These are the colors for the dash side of the connector. The interior mirror side has other colors.

You could be right about the Gentex mirror. Good luck with that. I had already installed the Uconnect system.

it looks like pins 4 and 5 on the 7-pin connector on the back of the DC rearview-mirror run the side mirror. im betting that all the gentex mirrors are wired the same, so if mito doesnt bother getting back to me, thats where i'll start. it should be easy enough to tell with a multi-meter and a flashlight. now i just need to get the part number of the auto-dim glass and order it. im psyched about this mod, the glare from the side mirror drives me crazy, i usually just aim the mirror into the ground to avoid it, of course its pretty much useless in that position

converting from the 8-pin connector to the 12-pin looks pretty straight forward. thanks again for the inspiration robin! i'll get hold of AJ at the mopar store if the gentex is putting out the right signal, and i should be good to go!

Is there any way to add the memory mirrors to a magnum? Add the switch(es?) and tie into empty leads on some connector somewhere???

The wiring in the doors, including pins in the door connectors, are different. Looks too costly to me. The "memory" includes seat position, pedal, & steering wheel position. I don't know if one could add mirrors without adding all the others.

Bummer. You also said that heated glass is standard on folding mirrors? My '05 RT doesn't have heated glass to my knowledge..... Was this an '06 addition or is there just no visible marking or indication anywhere on the car that it's there and/or is on? Finally, I take it there's three different part numbers, one for plain glass, one for heated, and one for auto-dim w/ heat? Can both heat and auto-dim be added to the same mirror if one were to follow both direction sets? Any order that would be better to do them in?

Edit: Apparently I do have heated mirrors... I'm used to seeing little heater icons etched into the glass on heated mirrors, I guess ours just look cleaner ;-)

I think the auto dim glass is heated. Don't think you can get non-heated auto dim glass.

Try below, or just do a search on Gentex mirrors.

    http://search.autoanything.com/?retu...uto+dim+mirror

You can also try ebay. I have had Gentex mirrors in the past, and they are of good quality.
