    Seat/Console Crevice Wedge

Well, after about 2 weeks of owning the Magnum, I decided it needed a mod due to what I found to be an annoying situation. Here are the first two of four pictures. These are two pieces of cut Nu-Foam from Walmart (in their fabric dept). See if you can guess what they are for in the first pictures:

    Give up?

Well, in the first 1.5 weeks of driving I had my cell phone, keys, pens, paper fall between the drivers seat and the center console. After which I had to move the seat all the way forward, open the rear door to rescue the stuff, and then move the front seat back again. Gak! So, can you guess the fix now? How about the next picture. See anything yet?

No? Ok, I'll kill the suspense:

And now, voila; No more annoying stuff down the drivers or passengers crevice.

It works great and you can't see it.
Plus, you can move the seat forward and back without an issue.

I used liquid black shoe polish to color the top part a day later. Now it is totally invisible unless you drop something in the crevice. The shape is simply cut out using a pair of scissors.

BTW, I might recommend a foam that is a bit less fibrous (the Nu-Foam tends to leave little white hairs after it's cut). Standard foam would work fine. So as a bit more expensive substitute:

    (note: dimension correction - 17" wide, not 18". Foam at purchase is 15 x 17 x 2)

    Here's some at http://www.foamorder.com/packing.html.
It's a black piece of foam, custom cut. It would cost about $10 + shipping to buy a big enough piece from them in black.

This is a great idea. I rember back in the day I had a 78 300D (Mercedes) and i was redoing the carpet and took out the seats. Then WOW I found my old 8 ball Zippo that I lost 4 years befor stuck in the tracks of the seat. To top it off it still worked. lol

    Gotta fill that crevice!!

Actually, anything that falls down there ends up under the seat.

The center console in front of the shifter has worked fine for me, tho things do fly outa there when I'm having a little fun...

Well, now 4 months later, and the crevice wedge is a good friend. From catching change, to pens, and pieces of paper. The underside of the front seats are clean.

True. MBs have black foam that's around 2" I think. If you're lucky enough to work at a place where you can get some.

Great Idea... Wish I'd read this sooner !

Great Idea... Wish I'd read this sooner ! Why just last week, I dropped the memory stick out of my digital camera down the Passenger "crevice". It promptly slid down into a hole in the carpet ( clearance for the seat mounting bracket ) As we speak, I'm planning on pulling the seat bracket to get access... The clearance is so tight I can just feel it with the very tip of my finger ( while bending it backwards at about 30 degrees ) And of course, every time I touch it, it goes deeper!

Thanks txjeff!!!! I have peeled the skin off the back of my hand three times trying to wedge my hand between the seat and the console to get my keys and cell phone after they fell into that space. I still have the scars to show for it. Great work on developing a solution for this!!!
