Real simple.
Get to the the rear fuse block and move fuse #18 to the IGN slot.
You can see it in the pic insert.
If you have the smokers group, it should already be set that way.

It allows for you to have an accessible ignition 'on' power tap, like for hardwiring a radar detector, for instance. Great idea, Semi-Hemi!

Yep, that's right. I just went out and checked.
Fuse 18 was set as shown in the picture and my cig lighter shut down when I turn off the ignition.
I moved it inline with the rest and now it's hot all the time.
I think what Semi-Hemi's post was about changing it so that it would turn off and on with the ignition - so that if you were to directly wire something into that circuit, the device would turn off and on with the ignition.
I was reading it the same way you were at first.
Oh and thanks for posting this - I needed my cig lighter to be hot all the time - my GPS is not hard wired in and it would shut off when I turn off the car.
First I am new to the group and would like some advise. I have a 2005 Magnum R/T. The question that I have is when I plugged my GPS into the cig lighter it quit. I checked fuse 18 and it appears good. I even switched with another 20 amp fuse and still nothing. The other two power remotes work. Is the cig lighter itself toast? It it is faulty how do I change it? If the lighter assy is bad do I need to purchase a new lighter assy from Dodge or can I get one at a local parts store?

Update to this, I bought a new cig lighter from the dealer. I then plugged the existing harness plug into it, however, THAT is not the problem. I believe it is the harness PLUG that is actually what has blown. That is my next step to solving this problem.
ttt//\\ my rear 12 volt work, the 12v volt in the console works, and the cig doesn't... argh..
i reconnected the connector to the cig adaptor and now works..
