SRT/Daytona Grille Install Write-up (Pics) 56K Beware
Heres my little write up for the SRT-8 grill PN# 82209978
I purchased it at the dealer for $39.99 and it came next day...
I tried to start doing this install by following the directions but ended up breaking 3 out of the 8 clips holding on the front fascia so i made an easier way for you guys... Without removing the front fascia!!
Step 1: Make sure you have everything you need
Time needed:
about 45min
Tools needed:
- 1/4" rachet
- 1/4" #2 phillips tip
- "Stubby" phillips screw driver
- Razor knife

Step 2: pop the hood

Step 3: Remove the radiator covers- they just pull off (no tools required)

Step 4: Find and remove the 2 screws in the center of the crosshair using your stubby screwdriver

Step 5: use your rachet with phillips tip and work your arm through the opening where the hood latch is. Then, with some luck, remove the screws on the outer edge of the crosshair... i have fairly big arms and it was kind of a squeeze... so dont get stuck (this will take some patience and skillful hands)

try not to drop the screws... but if you do the belly pan will catch them.
Step 6 from the back side... try to push the grill out, if it does... your lucky. If not, grab your razor blade and cut off the however many clips you need to to get the grill to slide out freely ( i had to cut the 2 uppers)

Try not to slash your self on the oil cooler - collateral damage

Step 7: The grill should pop out freely

Step 8: Grab a towel and put your grill face down on it, dont try to pry the clips because they may break - so cut out the tabs of the old grill around the clips to get if off

you should have no problems gettin the old grill out

Step 9: grab your new grill and clip it in

Step 10: While you can, clean up the front fascia where the grill is going to go

Step 11: Grab your new complete honey comb grill and put it in place, make sure you line up all the tabs and clip it in securely

Step 12: use your ratchet to re-install all the screws... remember be patient!

Step 13: re-install the radiator covers... doesnt matter which side first, but the do interlock with each other with a tab on the backside

Step 14: You're done... make sure you didnt leave anything under the hood and close it up

Thanks for posting. I'm about to go out and change my grille which I received just the other day. Great stepXstep intructions.

Well, I did it and I tore up my hands pretty good. Oh well, at least it's in and it looks great. Make sure that if you have big hands, look for someone with smaller ones so you can get the last two screws in the very corners easier. I also had a hardtime with putting two of the four screws in and ended up losing them somewhere, but the grill doesn't move at all with the top and bottom screws in place.

45 minutes was a low estimate for me, haha. My friend and I did it today in the dark with a terrible ratchet. :v We ended up leaving out the side screws for now though, as there was no way we would get them back in there without stripping them/dropping them into the engine bay.
Looks so much better than the slat grill though. Thanks for the writeup!

Little harder than I expected for the two screws on the side of the grille. Other than that, really easy. Much better than having to take off the entire front fascia.
Thanks for all the pics and walkthrough.

I have to agree with the two screws on the side, major pain to install. Is there a grille guard specially for honey comb grilles?

Very good advise and will be using it when I do mine very easy to under stand and the pictures are a great tool for the not so mechanically inclined.
