El Cobra's Dodge Charger Rear Blinker Mod

If you own a Dodge Charger, you know that only the outer most bulb on either side of the tail lights will flash when you apply the turn signal.

    Stock Turn Signal :
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WjCiGVVfjVI

This mod will enable both bulbs on either tail light to flash when you use your turn signal or flashers.

First, remove the tail light from the vehicle by detaching the wiring harness and the three bolts on either tail light from inside of the trunk. Two of the bolts and the wiring harness are accessible from behind the lining. In the pictures below, we are using the passenger side tail light...

Once removed, lay the tail light on a towel or other soft surface so you don't scratch the outside. Locate the Green wire with the White stripe leading from the Inside Bulb (the bulb closest to the trunk that does not flash when you apply the signal)

Give yourself plenty of slack from the bulb and cut the wire. On the section of wire leading into the wiring harness, use a cap, or electrical tape to seal the exposed wire...

Now tape that end to the rest of the wiring harness so it's safe and out of the way...

Now look at the Outside Bulb, the bulb closest to the outside of the car that does flash when you apply the signal, and locate the White wire with the Green Stripe...

Use a wire tap to connect the Green wire with a White stripe from the Inside Bulb to the White wire with the Green stripe from the Outside bulb...

Now tape up that connector and put the tail light back in the car. Flip on the hazard lights on and be amazed!!

Help me understand the last part when you tap in to the white green strip wire. Youre taping in to it not cutting it right? The last picture you posted doesnt look like thats what you did. Thanks

You're cutting the first dark green wire with the white stripe. The section leading from the bulb is tapped into the white wire with the lighter green stripe coming from the other bulb that is identified in the second to last picture.

Essentially creating a Y out of the White/Lt. Green wire from the harness connector that branches off to each bulb, via the Green/White wire.

    Does that make sense?

The last picture shows two wires from the tap going in to one of lights. I guess the picture doesnt really show the wires well enough. I understand do just tap in to white green stripe wire. Thanks

I did this last weekend. It's really easy once you start doing it and see the wires first hand. Thanks for you contributions El Cobra, I did the 3rd brake light scanner mod too. Looks pretty cool!

Never! I see something new that I want to do everyday. So far i've just done some of the cheaper/easier mods. Right now buying a house is getting in the way of me really getting into it. But I've done more to this car in 5 months than I did to my Honda in 3 years.
