Why doesn't my horn work? *

You go outside and get in your LX....the kids are taking forever to get outside and you are in a hurry. You get impatient and lay on the horn and......

    ......nothing......

There's nothing wrong with your car. The horn with only work when the ignition is on (key in).

So instead of yelling after your kids and going hoarse, just put the key in and HONK!

I had the same question, so I asked my dealer. I found out from the dealer that it's just that way. YOu have to have the key "ON" in order for the horn to work, weird huh.

Does anyone know if this was fixed in 2006? A few of us last year filed a report with the NHTSB asking for a recall/redesign fix of this SAFETY issue.

Is there a way to mod this I wonder?

I'm curious as to why it would be a safety issue? The horn is for alerting people they are doing something wrong on the road, not for getting your kids out of the house.

There is nothing to "fix". It works as designed. Oh, my Honda works the same way.

Far as I know in CA it is illegal to honk your horn except to warn someone of an impending accident. I know in Downey where I live the police write tickets for people who pull up to the schools and honk for their kids...

what if you were sitting in the parking lot waiting on the kids and someone is about to back into you. You MAY need the horn to get them to see you

haha, been there done that. I am just disappoingted with a lame sounding horn on my maggie. Twice I have had near misses from folks. Both times I lay on the horn and it sounds its whimpy request for attention. I'm planning to replace it with something a bit more attention getting.

    No not the train horns.
