2006 Charger SRT-8 sold!
I wish i could read the text, but have a magnum so what would my options be. Thinking of getting the System anyways for cost reasons. But would love to be able to upgrade later. Looks like i would have to upgrade box and amp for magnum at smae time but be able to use wiring?
Red - Scan that at 120 dpi that should help. I would then stuff them into a PDF

I zoomed in with my browser.... this is what the text says...

Tips and Tricks for upgrading your stock SRT 8 Kicker Livin Loud audio system
So, you have a SRT 8 with the optional Kicker Livin Loud audio system ad you are wondering how you might easily
go about upgrading the system with some aftermarket Kicker equipment. A bigger amp? How about a L5 or L7 subwoofer?
"But how do I do it?" you might ask. Well, this is a question we get asked quiet frequently, so below are a few Tips and Tricks to aid you. Good luck and thanks for Livin' Loud.
How do I upgrade my amplifier and/or my subwoofer in my SRT 8 Charger
1. Remover the six plastic retainers securing the large panel directly below the tray and remove the panel from the
trunk. Fig 1
2. Locate the factory subwoofer amplifier and disconnect the ten pin connector. You will have to slide the red plastic safety
tab over and then push the button to disconnect the connector. Fig 2
3. Look closely at the outside of the connector on the car side of the harness and you will see the pin locations
are numbered. Find pin locations 2 and 3, these will be the wires you will need to tap into and use for the signalinput
to your aftermarket amplifier. Pin 2 is positive and pin 3 is negative and this signal can be connected to the
'high level input' of any Kicker ZX amplifier.
4. Run the input signal wire to your aftermarket amplifier mounting location and follow the instructions in the amplifier installation manual
for further connections.
5. If you plan to use your factory Kicker Livin' Loud subwoofer and enclosure you can, but the subwoofer can only handle 400 watts of power. The factory subwoofer is a dual 1 Ohm speaker so the voice coils need to be connected in series to equal 2 Ohms in order to be connected to an aftermarket Kicker ZX amplifier. Runt he output from your aftermarket amplifier back to the ten pin connector. Ont eh car side of the factory harness find the wires connected to pins 4, 5, 6, and 7. Cut all
four of these wires individually about five inches away from the connector. THe wire connected to pin 4 will be connected
to the positive output from the aftermarket amplifier. The wire connected to pin 7 will connect to the negative output
from the aftermarket amplifier. The wires connected to pins 5 and 6 need to be connected to each other.
6. Replace allt he previously removed parts in reverse order.
Can I put an aftermarket Kicker subwoofer in my SRT 8 CHarger sub enclosure?
Yes, but unless you have upgraded the amplifier as described on page one you are wasting your time becasue you wont
notice any difference. Now, if you have upgraded your amplifier, then you might consider putting a Kicker 1.5 or 1.7
subwoofer in place of the stick subwoofer, heres how.
7. You will need to choose a 1.5 or 1.7 with dual 4 Ohm voice coils
8. Remove the factory subwoofer and disconnect the wiring.
9. You will need to remove the panel as described in step one. Find the ten pin connector on the car side of the harness.
Take the wires connected to pins 4 and 5 and twist them together. Connect these two wires to the positive output
of the aftermarket amplifier. Take the wires connceted to pins 6 and 7 and twist them together and connect them
to the negative output of the aftermarket amplifier.
10. Find the speacker wire inside the enclosure. Cut the white connector off the speaker leads, strip the wire ends
and twist them together. Repeat this same procedure on the other speaker lead. One of the pairs of wires will be positive
and one will be negative. You dont really need to know which one is positive and which one is negative at this point.
Refer to the owners manual that came with your aftermarket Kicker suwoofer for proper parallel wiring of the two 4 Ohm voice
coils.
11. Before you actually install the subwoofer wyou will need to create a 1/4" (.250") wood spacer to go between the
subwoofer and the enclosure to give the subwoofer enough clearance away fromt he back wall of the enclosure.
12. Install the spacer you created and the subwoofer following the instruction for proper wiring. When you are finished test the system. If you are not satisfied with the performance of the subwoofer you can try reversing the phase 180 degrees by switching the positive and negative output wires at the amplifier.
13. If you don't feel comfortable making any of these modifications remember you can always replace your factory sub
enclosure with a Kicker preloaded enclosure.
Can I upgrade my amplifier and or subwoofer in my SRT 8 300C or Magnum?
You can upgrade your amplifier in your SRT 8 300C or Magnum to any Kicker ZX model amplifier, but it will mean that
you will also need to upgrade your subwoofer as well. The stock subwoofer is a 1 Ohm speaker and will damage aftermarket
amplifiers if connected. SRT 8 300C owners can swap there factory subwoofer for an aftermarket Kicker subwoofer and keep the stock enclosure. SRT 8 Magnum owners will need to swap their entire factory subwoofer assembly for an aftermarket Kicker preloaded enclosure if you plan to upgrade to an aftermarket amplifier. THe main reason for this is the factory Magnum subwoofer enclosure actually contains the factory subwoofer amplifier. The amplifier is not easily removed and will not allow enough mounting depth for aftermarket subwoofers

14. Remove the six plastic retainers securing the large panel directly below the package tray and remove the panel
from the trunk. Fig 1.
15. Locate the factory subwoofer amplifier and disconnect the six pin connector. you will have to slide the red plastic safety tab over and then push the button to disconnect the connector. Fig 2.
16. Look closely at the outside of the connector on the car side of the harness and you will see the pin locations and numbers.

18. Run the output from your aftermarket back to the six pin connector. Ont he car side of the factory harness find the
wires connected to pin 4 and 5, cut both of these wires individually about five inches away from the connector. The wire connected to pin 4 will connect to the positive output from the aftermarket amplifier. The wire connected to pin 5 will connect to the negative output of the aftermarket amplifier.
19. Replace all previously removed parts in reverse order.

20. When removing the factory subwoofer make note of which wire is connected to the positive terminal and which one is connected to the negative terminal on the subwoofer. Cut off the metal terminals and strip
the ends of the wires.
21. Reconnect the speaker wires and install the aftermarket subwoofer in the enclosure. If you are not satisfied with the performance of the subwoofer you can try reversing the phase 180 degrees by switching the positive and negative output wires at the amplifier.
22. If you don't feel comfortable making any of these modifications you can always replace your factory sub enclosure with a Kicker preloaded enclosure.

Just bringing an old thread back to life.
Which amp and sub would be good gor the system.
Me and MJR5150 have been trying to figure this out for a while but we quit after we got no answers?
Im a practical joker, so dont take anything seriously. GOT IT. GOOD.

Bringin it back for 1 more round!!!
I saw in that sheet from Kicker where to get the signal inputs for the sub in a Magnum, but what about the power and remote turn on? True the battery is right there, but the factory kicker amp (the one in the sub enclosure) has to get its power from somewhere. What about positions 1 and 4 of that connector (again, in reference to the Magnum SRT setup)? What are they used for? Is there a ready made harness that plugs into the factory harness and lets you wire up an aftermarket (sub) amp?
No harness available for that. As for power and remote....the factory wiring may be a little small for an aftermarket amp (depending on what you're planning on running). With the battery and fuse box right there, you have perfect access for power, ground and remote right there.
