    Speaker Wiring Harnesses *

I have installed many car stereos and usually ran new wires for the speakers. Those were older vehicles with only AM radios or FM with only dash speakers.

Given the fact that the Magnum R/T I purchased already had multi speaker wiring, I decided to just use the factory wiring. In trying to make my speaker replacement plug and play I purchased some Metra speaker wiring harnesses. I purchased the Metra 72-6514 for all speaker replacements. After examining the dash speakers I found the plugs on those speakers were smaller than the front doors and rear locations. During some research I found that the dash speakers use a harness from a 90-93 Mazda, go figure. The Metra number for the dash wiring harness is 72-7902. Even though Crutchfield has similar wiring harnesses, I purchased mine at http://www.cardomain.com/shop. Their price is $4.95 ea compared to $9.99 and $12.99 for the Crutchfield harnesses. Shipping costs were similar. I received my harnesses in just one day, shipped Seattle to Portland.

These are the correct speaker wiring harnesses for the six speaker Boston system, but I can not verify that they are the same for the other systems.

    Dash- Metra 72-7902

    I hope this helps.

PS-I did have a hard time talking the salesperson at cardomain into selling me these harnesses for my Magnum. He said according to his computer these harnesses don’t fit the Magnum. They will and do fit the Magnum.
It looks like 2012 will be very good indeed.
Unless the Mayans are right, then, well, never mind.

Thanks for the info, I'm going to replace my front speakers this weekend with some Eclipse's. I saw that Halted supply in Sunnyvale carries Metra products so I'm going to head down there and see if I can find it.

    --- Update ---
They didn't have any of the Metra products at Halted. I ended up cutting the wires to install the speakers which was not too hard really.

These days its much easier to use adapter cables when going with after market equipment. That way your guarranteed two things for sure... one, that you can easily put everything back to stock and two, that you wont mess up any of the signals (especially ground noise) with the onboard networks that most of todays cars have onboard.

    Nice post btw.

I think we should have a central post area just for part numbers for stuff like this. The only ones who should be able to add the part numbers to the list are the moderators. That way the post stay uncluttered and easy to navigate.
