Disconnect the negative battery cable.
1) Open the ash tray and grip the bottom of the bezel. Pull gently but firmly to release the bezel from dash.
2) release the cables from the clock, ESP controls, seat heaters, AC controls, and utility plug. The plugs pull loose by squeezing the tab in and pulling outward.
3) remove the four screws holding the radio to the dash and pull out the radio. The antenna has a keeper on it so pull out on it to get the antenna cable to release from the radio. Remove the other cables from the radio.
4) In the kit for the Uconnect, remove the harness with the two white connectors on the end and a black extension. Following the directions in the kit, cut the yellow/black wire and tape the end with the manual splice on it.
5) solder a 24" 16ga. wire to the end of the yellow/black wire and run it behind the white support for the radio, down to the utility plug harness. Stip about 1/2" of insulation off the wire located in the #3 position on the utility plug and solder the extension wire to this. Wrap the union with electrical tape.
6) plug one end of the uconnect harness into the harness that originally went to the radio. This will splice in the Uconnect to the radio. Do not connect the radio at this time.
7) Remove the side panel between the left of the dash and drivers side door. This hides one of the screws holding the knee panel under the steering wheel.
8 ) Remove the screws under the side door panel, under the knee panel and pull the knee panel away from the dash. This panel has four keepers holding it to the car.
9) Remove the four bolts holding the steel panel to the car. The controller will be located on the inside of this panel.
10) If your car has an amplifier for the stereo, the speaker for the Uconnect can not be located per the directions. Instead, locate the speaker on the steel cross member running horizontally directly under the steering wheel. Pre drill the holes to mount the speaker and attach the speaker to the car.
11) The kit comes with double sided tape. Place two of the strips on the controller unit and attach it to the inside of the steel plate.
12) Run the black cable harness from the stereo adapter harness behind the dash to the controller unit and plug it in to the controller.
13) Connect the speaker harness to the controller.
14) Connect the external control panel to the side of the center dash. ( you may want to cut a small groove in the bezel for the cable to pass behind it.) Run the cable in the same path as the black cable harness coming off the stereo.
15) Reinstall everything back into the center console dash using the reverse order above.
16) connect the microphone cable to the controller unit and run the cable behind the dash and under the side door panel you removed earlier.
17) the microphone cable can be routed up the A pillar cover without fully removing it from the car. Place your fingers between the windshield and the cover and pull gently but firmly. This will loosen it enough to route the cable.
18 ) Tuck the wire into the head liner along the windshield. There is sufficient room to do this without to much effort.
19) Pull down on the overhead console and let it hang by the wiring harness. To the left of the hole is a small hole to pass the microphone through.
20) Using the tape on the microphone, attach it to the overhead console and reinstall the console in the overhead. ( Make sure you tuck as much of the slack as you can back into the head liner.)
21) Reinstall the A pillar cover and steel knee plate.
22) Using the tie straps provided in the kit, secure the slack in any of the cables to the underside of the dash.
23) Reinstall the knee panel.
24) Reinstall the side door panel.
25) Turn ingnition on and push the Uconnect button.
