This is a step-by-step on how to install the Mopar iPod interface for our cars.
So you'll be installing this in to your LX.
Tools are mininimal for this. I will add the mouting of the wires in the glove box later, but this is the major part of the installation.
All that's needed is a phillips (star) screwdriver, your brain and about 20-40 minutes, depending on how fast and careful you work.
This installation starts with a battery disconnect procedure, which is found elsewhere in the Knowledge Base, but in short, you disconnect the ground side.
We all know this view... In one form or another...
Bear in mind, I use two hands for this, but for the pictures, I show one, 'cause the camera's in the other! (Don't go there!)
Some people like to remove the bezel from the bottom, I like to tilt the vents and grab it at the top and pull.
I then move down the sides (two hands).
And further down, easing it out of each anchor point.
As you pull it out, the ashtray assembly will pop out.
Then you have to disconnect the connector for the switches (and clock, if you have a 300). EVERY ONE OF THESE CONNECTORS HAS A LOCKING TAB! Which means, don't just yank on the shell, or even worse, the wires. You have to find the tab and squeeze it, then the connector's shell will pull out.
Yup, looks like that.
Tilt it forward and you can get to the heater control connections.
Ahhh, a thing of beauty. And a challenge. I've got extra connectors for VES, Uconnect, SAT and the TV&Nav2Go module... That's gonna have to move!
Next, the four screws for the radio...
