How to remove the radio *

    1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.

Note: A battery reconnect procedure must be performed
anytime the battery has been disconnected.

    2. Remove instrument panel center bezel

Using a trim stick C-4755 or equivalent (1), remove
the center bezel (2) from the instrument panel (3)
by releasing the snap retainers from the instrument
    panel.

    3. Disconnect the electrical connectors (3) from the
A/C - heater control (4) and the clock and remove
the center bezel (1) from the vehicle.

    Chrysler Bezel

    Dodge Bezel

    4. Remove four bolts holding the radio in the vehicle.

CAUTION: Pulling the antenna cable straight out
of the radio without pulling on the locking antenna
connector could damage the cable or radio.

    5. Disconnect the antenna cable by pulling the
locking antenna connector away from the radio

    6. Disconnect the electrical harness connector and
    remove radio.

    Installing the NAV system

Since I did this yesterday I thought I would share some of my experiences.
To remove the bezel, I opened my ash tray and got a grip on the bottom of the bezel and popped it off starting from the bottom.
It's pretty easy to remove, but you will need a 4mm socket
to take off the tiny bolts holding the controls.
The hardest part of the whole removal is getting the antenna loose. It is really stuck in there!
You also need to remove the white plastic holder that is used to hold the small radio if you are planning on installing the factory NAV system.

The instructions for installing the NAV system is vague to say the least, they don't really tell you where to put the antenna.
    Here was my trick:
I removed the backing on the sticky lable part of the antenna,
and used a 1/2" wide peice of aluminum rod that I had laying
in the shop and stuck it on the end of the rod by 1/4" on the end so it could easily pop off.
I slid the antenna over the AC vents, on top of the padded insulation and the dash and slid it as far forward as I could get it. Giving the rod a twist will leave the antenna where you want it and the sticky back will keep it there so you can pull the rod back out.
This will give the antenna the best possible reception.

The rest is easy, just plug it in and put in the screws, pop the bezel in place. You will be operating in seconds.

    Here is a tip:
Your radio will automaticly detect which vehicle it is in and it will automaticly change it's start up screen, so if you pulled a radio out of the 300C and it used to start up with the Chrysler logo,
and you put it in a Magnum, it will now start up with a Dodge logo. Just FYI for those of you who were wondering, so it doesn't matter which car it came out of.

    God luck!

For those that swapped the NAV... and have EVIC w/ steering wheel controls - > do your steering wheel controls work with the new NAV unit? Is there a trick?

Yes, the sterring wheel controls should work fine with the NAV, not only that but if you have the electronics group digital screen in your speedo, it will display NAV information there where your odometer is.
It will display street names, arrows and other information there.
All of these goodies is what makes the factory NAV a better choice over
    an aftermarket radio IMHO.

    Thanks.

    To note..

if you are doing this install yourself (adding factory NAV) you'll need to get a starscan and enable the NAV section in the FCM. This enables the steering wheel controls.

Without doing this you will get NAV messages in your EVIC but no controls via the wheel buttons.

Yes a VERY good idea... when you have any wiring disconnected or moving them around, you have the potential of shorting out a positive wire... Best case scenario, you short 12V to ground, blow a fuse, replace the fuse, move on.... Worse case, you short 12V to a CanBus or Data wire, you Pop a computer or controller....

Well here is an addition of things to pay attention to as your swapping out the radio/NAV or such for Magnum Owners...

Like a genious, after I realized I didn't have a 4MM socket/nutdriver I closed up my car (all the windows still open and unlocked) and prepared to run to the store in another car... With it being 10PM already and nothing open anymore I decided to use a Leatherman to get the 4MM nuts off and finish all the installation...

Long story short... it is quite a pain to crawl in the back of the car to re-hookup the battery, as the rear door is electronic pop open and I didn't remember where the manual release latch was hidden

In conclusion... Magnum owners... don't close your rear door until after you hook the battery back up.... Unless of course you like crawling in the back...

Would you happen to know if a NAV unit from a 2005 would work in a 2006 300C? Also is the Uconnect integrated into these units? If so, do some NAV units come without the uconnect? Thanks for your time.
    vyper883

OK I found out about the Uconnect on another thread. It's a seperate module that interfaces with the nav unit/radio. I would imagine that there is no reason to believe that a 2005 NAV unit would not fit into a 2006 300C. If you know for sure videobob I'd be grateful for the info. Thanks.

Yeah, it will fit and work... If you don't already have nav, then after you install it, you'll want to go to the dealer and get them to enable it in the starscan, so you get more EVIC/steering wheel control functions.

or you could use the boost points under the hood, another car and jumper cables to power up and unlock the rear hatch.
