    (6) Sirius Sat Antenna Extension Cable - Chrysler Part#05064159AD(2 may be required depending how you route it) (only required if your going to subscibe to Sirius)

    (7) Terk Sir-SP Splitter (only required if your going to subscibe to Sirius and have EVIC display)

    (8) Cable Tie Wraps

    Tools Requires: Basic Hand Tools

    (5) Update MYGIG firmware to version 9.897 or 1.295(latest) to fix Clock

*NOTE – If you do not perform the update correctly you can damage your MYGIG, it will essential turn your MYGIG into a big paper weight or brick, perform update at your own risk*

    (A) Insert clock fix CD and follow on-screen instructions
*Do not shut car off while firmware is updating
*After the firmware has updated the system will reboot, WAIT till see the following message on the MYGIG screen.

    Update from “9.897 to 9.897”

Press No then Eject the CD. This is the equivalent of the "Your installation is complete" window. Do not eject the CD before you see this screen and click No on it.

    (6) Modify Bezel and Install

    (A) Many have modified a non-nav bezel to the size of the MYGIG or fill in the nav bezel radio opening with ABS plastic, bondo, prime and paint to color of your choice. For the 300C you have another option of buying a 08 bezel and sanding the sides of the bezel to the same contour of the 05-07 bezel on the bottom 1/3 of the bezel.
    (B) Reconnect Clock harness(if applicable), ESP switch harness and HVAC harness and reinstall Bezel
    (C) Reconnect Negetive Battery Terminal
    (D) Enjoy Radio

Here is picture of NAV bezel that I Modified

    Before

    Inprocess

    After

Here is 2008 Bezel that was modified to fit 05-07 300C(much easier than above modification)

Downloading, Extracting, Then Burning The MyGIG Software Updates Using Nero Express

Since there have been so many people asking about the proper way to download, extract and burn the software updates and that some people keep getting the infamous DATA message when the software CD is inserted, I decided to write this guide to the correct burning procedure using Nero Express. As I get more time I will create more guides for other software and Operating Systems.

This guide looks like it has a million steps to it however it is actually very simple and easy. I just wanted to over comment and make sure that everyone that is either completely new to the concept and experienced people alike could use the guide. Experienced people can just look at the pictures and fly through the guide while people that would like to know more about what is going on with these procedures will have a full education and will never have to read a guide again to Download, Unzip, and burn a CD or DVD. But yes this guide is geared predominantly for inexperienced people.

Downloading and Extracting The Software Updates

    1. Download a software update that relates to your radio. The easiest way to know which update is correct for your radio is to look for the 3 letter code on the lower right hand side of your radio which will be RER, REN, REP, REZ, REW, REU, RE1 Etc... After you have established which model of radio you have then download the latest software update for your model. Your radio code will be listed on this website's main menu so click on the menu link, and find the link that is of the highest version which usually reads "MyGIG Software Upgrade Version x.xxx" where the x in x.xxx represents the version numbers.

Click on the download link for your desired download, and Save the file to your desktop or a place where you will be able to locate it easily.

If your download fails for any reason then redownload the software. Even if you are unsure that the download MAY have been corrupted during download then redownload it as it's always better to be safe when dealing with software updates.

Zip File Explanation : For anyone that doesn't know, A .zip file is a file that is used for 2 primary purposes. 1. A zip file can contain many files and instead of you having to download many files from many links to get all of the files that make up parts of a program or in this case a software update, you can just download 1 file then extract its contents after you have finished downloading it. 2. The .zip file's contents are compressed to make it smaller to save bandwidth when sending the file through the internet or network as well as saving space on your hard drive.

Analogy : It is essentially like someone coming up to you and asking for a report.. Instead of them having to come back and forth to you and get each page of the report, you hand them a single folder with the entire report in it. (ok, not the best analogy.. but you get the idea)
There are many other programs that accomplish the same task only using different formats that use different extensions but I decided to use a .zip file because it's popular, It is supported by numerous operating systems without any additional downloads, and the application WinZip is available for use as a trial so anyone that wants to extract the contents of the file can without too much difficulty.

    2. Unzip the folder or files to a directory.

Unzipping Without WinZip in Windows : Double click on the REN_9.713.zip file (Or whatever Model/Version it is called) that just finished downloading. A window should appear showing the contents of the .zip file which will be either a folder or the files themselves depending on how the .zip file was packaged.

Then Drag and drop the contents (Folder or Files depending on what you see) onto your desktop. You should see a progress screen letting you know when the copy will be completed. This is a big file so be patient if your screen looks like it locked up.. It is just copying the contents onto your desktop. If you can't see the progress screen then you can watch your hard drive light on your computer to see the copy activity. When your HD light stops then the copy is likely complete.

When the extraction is complete you can Close the window by clicking the X in the upper right hand of the screen.
You can Skip to the Burning The Software Updates Using Nero Express section of this guide as you don't need to extract it again using WinZip since that is just an alternative method of unzipping the file.

Unzipping Using WinZip in Windows : If you have WinZip installed or want to use the trial version Click To Download WinZip then Double click on the REN_9.713.zip file (Or whatever Model/Version it is called) that just finished downloading. A window should appear showing the contents of the .zip file which will be either a folder or the files themselves depending on how the .zip file was packaged.

DO NOT Drag and drop the files shown in the WinZip screen! The files shown in WinZip are not in their correct folder structures.
    Instead, Click the Extract button.

With .zip files you don't always know if the files will be extracted into a folder or all over your desktop. It all depends on if the person that zipped the files zipped them in a folder first or just dragged the many single files into the zip file. So to avoid a mess, you will want to add a directory to the end of the extract path which can be any name of your choice as long as you remember it. Then all of the files will go neatly into the folder that you added. In this particular case the files inside the .zip file were already zipped into a folder as we saw with the windows extraction picture, So you will end up with a folder inside a folder.

Select a directory to extract the files to then add a \FolderName at the end to make sure everything goes into a folder.
Click on the Extract button and wait for the extraction to complete.

Ok, We should be all done with the unzipping and you will have a green icon at the lower right of WinZip letting you know that everything was extracted. So you can close WinZip by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner of the WinZip screen.

Burning The Software Updates Using Nero Express

I have decided to use Nero Express as an example because of a few reasons, Nero Express is much simpler to use than Nero, Nero provides it's software for free with many CD/DVD burners, and it's one of the best burning software suites offered for sale. I should be including Roxio as that burning suite is offered with many new computers pre-installed but I don't currently have it installed on my computer. I will probably get a copy and include the instructions for that as well as other popular burning software at a later time..

If you have Nero installed, You most likely have Nero Express installed. To find it, Go into Start --> Programs --> Nero (Whatever Version) --> Data --> and in the Data folder you should find Nero Express.

    1. Run Nero Express.

You should be presented with the following screen, If you are burning the MyGIG Software Update then select Data CD as the data will fit on a CD. If you are going to be burning the Gracenotes Database Update or the Navigation Database Update, Then click on Data DVD as those discs have a large amount of data on them and require DVDs (The Navigation DB uses Dual Layer DVDs that can be selected in a following menu)

Root Explanation : I use the phrase Root of the CD frequently in the website. The Root of a CD is the lowest directory level that you can go to on the CD. When you go into your CD/DVD drive, the first file listing you see is considered the root and as you travel into the folder structure of the CD you have left the root of the CD and are in sub folders of the root. Lets say your CD/DVD drive letter is D: and you double click on your D: drive. You are now in the root of your D: drive.
When I say burn the 3 files in the root of your CD or DVD that means after you are finished with burning the CD/DVD, all you should see when you go into your CD/DVD are 3 files.

    2. Find the 2 files and 1 folder.
The files you want to burn 2 files and 1 folder onto the CD and they are CD-INFO.CDI , CONFIG.CDI , and the BECKER folder. They belong in the root of the CD. You should NOT burn the single extracted folder but its contents.

    3. Drag and Drop the CD-INFO.CDI file, CONFIG.CDI file, and the BECKER folder into the white background of Nero Express.

    4. Click the Next button.

    5. Rename the Disc Name to the proper release name. Normally the proper CD/DVD label name and release name is the name of the .zip file without the .zip extension.
    6. Make sure the Allow files to be added later (Multisession) Check box is NOT selected (Un-Checked). This is NOT optional as if this box is left checked then it will only be readable on computers and you will end up with the DATA message when you insert your CD/DVD in the MyGIG radio and the install will never start.
It is a good idea to select the Verify data on disc after burning option to make sure your CD/DVD is reliable however it will add time to your burn time. Many times the Verify data on disc after burning option will reveal corrupted downloads as well as bad burns. (Recommended)

    7. Click the options tab to expand your burning options, Then Lower your Writing speed to the lowest setting allowed by your CD/DVD burner. 2x or 4x is usually sufficient however some burners do not allow you to drop your speed that low so in that case just use the lowest setting allowed.
The reason for lowering your burning speed is that when burners write at lower speeds the CD is spinning slower (Obviously) but that allows the CD/DVD burner to create more defined and tighter burns which are more easily read by a wider range of devices making the CD/DVD data more reliable decreasing the chance of a failed MyGIG installation.

    8. Insert A CD (or DVD for The Gracenotes and Nav DB updates) and then Click the Burn Button To Start Burning.

Waiting for blank CD to be recognized.

    Burning CD

Burn Complete. This was an example burn so pay no attention to the 40x speed

After the CD is complete, When you view the root of the CD you will notice that there are 2 files and 1 folder. If you only see only a folder then you burned the CD wrong and will have to re-burn it again using the correct directory structure.

That's it, You should have a successfully burned CD and can now move on to the MyGIG Software Update installation instructions.

I guess im the only one who is having a peoblem displaying the SAT station on the EVIC.
According to your pic of the original SAT tuner, mine is larger than yours and I have a blue and white input.
Ive tried every possible scenario to get it to work but no luck.
    Any ideas????
Im a practical joker, so dont take anything seriously. GOT IT. GOOD.

    bert,

I guess you have have the older dual input sat tuner? Did you install a new single wire sat antenna for the mygig, if so. try plugging the new antenna into the mygig then take the old two wire sat antenna and pug into old sat tuner and see if that does the trick, just make sure to take the sat antenna out of the trunk where it can see the satelitte. I know for a fact if it doesen't see the satelite it won't work. if that works you can just place the anteena on the rear tray and it should be able to see the sat through the rear window.

Quick Question, do any functions NOT work after this system has been installed? I see where the Clock issue was fixed, but can I expect anything else to be non functional?

I have come across a few minor, none that I have been worried about or really cared about but here they are:

    1) unit only works in English, the other languages are not selectable.
2)phone# from uconnect only shows on MYGIG screen, It doesn't show on EVIC display.
3)You can't program Nav through EVIC and steering wheel controls as you could with the REC, not a big considering the MYGIG is touch screen and ability to use voice commands. I personally never used this when I had the REC.

For the guys without EVIC and steering wheel controls then most of these issues don't apply.

I have had the MYGIG installed for awhile now must say it is night and day when compared to the the REC.

yes, just to get the sat info to display correctly on the evic. The sat anteena extender will plug into the mygig on one end the roof antenna on the other end. The connector from the roof antenna will be plugged into the old sat tuner, just unplug and plug into the entension cable.
