Will 295/40/R20 fit on rear MSRT8 rim?

I am curious if anyone has put a 295 size tire on the stock MSRT8 rim. I am thinking about putting this size on the rear and keeping a 245/45/R20 up front. Of course the tire place cautioned that this was too big for this rim size but in the old days (80's) we use to put huge tires on 9" rims. Granted the tires were bigger and the rims were usually 15".

Looking for anyone who has tried this.

Yes it will.It fits better on a 10" rim....but it will fit the SRT rim.

Hal has done it too and says it's fine. I notice they look a lot narrower on a 9" than a 10" wheel

I got 285/40/20 on mine..... I thought that was the widest it could go on the SRT8 stock rims... Guess I was wrong.

I got the Goodyear HP ultra's 295/40 20's in the back and it fills the wheel well real nice. Nice and beefy. I have the F1 245/45 20's in the front and it gives it a nice stance.

I personally wouldn't put a 295/40/20 on our stock rim. It will fit like others have said, but its going to be taller than the tire calculator says. This is like putting a 2.90 rear end gear in (maybe not that drastic-maybe more). If someone has any pictures of a mounted stock 245/45 beside a 295/40 that would be a good way to tell.

Thank you Rander for those pictures, that looks good. And where did you get the GoodYear Ultra HP? I wanted to get those as well and the GoodYear stores out here in Phoenix say there is not an ETA yet. TireRack says the same thing on the website. I looks like I will go with the BFG KDW on the back. How do you like the Goodyear Ultra Hp's?

You are right TopFuel67 that there will be a slight difference in height. The diameter will change by half and inch and the overall circumference will change by a little less than an inch. It will change the effective rear gear ratio slightly, but not by much. Speedo will be off by 1 at 50mph; 50 on speedo = 51 actual.

They're a little spongy, but traction is still good. I'll see how they stand up as soon as I'm done installing my TQ verter this week.
