    What about this CAI

    http://www.mimousa.com/home.asp?dir=products&prod=783

I've seen it before this dbl wall design, if it has a large volume could give a true venturi effect. Like a x-pipe or stagered header pipes, or scavenging effects?

Don't throw away your moola! The one below, has true gains unlike most others. Notice the extra wide filter side. You want venturi???

    I'll trade you a HX-82 1600 hp turbo? hammer

that intake looked like a true venturi, like a eductor on very very large industrial turbo engines, or fire fighting equipment. I love the air hammer, no money for either one right now

I emailed weapon-r back in Sept when I first got my car since I had their intakes on a couple of Hondas back in the day. I was inquiring about filter size, perf specks, price, etc etc. One of their techs responded and within a week of the first email he did an about face, stating that they had pulled the intake out of production to redesign it. They were increasing the filter size to work better with the large displacement v-8 and getting rid of the heat sheild. Said he would email me when they were finished with the new round of R&D on the new intake. I waited till Nov., inquiring several times via email to no avail. Even after buying the airaid I still send them emails inquiring and have yet to get any answers.

This is a direct result of the testing we did at the GIFO4 (where it was shown to be one of the worst performers) and interaction we had with them before and after the test. I will say, they responded quite well to our results, taking them to heart and not selling the unit (we had the first prototype). It might be they never could get the design right or the filter size up in a cost effective manner (that double wall design probably costs a pretty penny to mfg).

I was the one who went to the Weapon-R shop for the construction of the prototype and had quite a bit of input into the design of the unit; particularly that now-unnecessary airbox, which other tests later on showed not to be needed thanks to the removal of the lower radiator baffle...

...and the removal of that baffle, I have to point out, was Leo at WR's idea. Its original intent was to make a path for his scoop and tube that fed the airbox with ambient air. I found later, almost by accident, that this mod alone flooded the filter area with ambient air on its own. IMHO this one little baffle is one of the most important mods you can make to your LX if it has an aftermarket intake, and the idea came from Weapon-R.

I'll second CV's comments that WR is to be commended for working hard to make their product the best it can be. In my last conversation with them, a couple of months ago, they told me the new filters would probably be 8" in size; but it takes time to get something like that from drawing board to production. Hopefully we'll see something from them in the not-too-distant future.
