What the *&^% is a "SRT Design" 300?

So I'm at a dealership today and there's a 300 sitting on the floor that says its a "SRT Design" (and so says the emblem on the back). The window sticker says it has the SRT susp, interior (- the logo on the seats), exhaust, special wheels- basically a SRT 300, but without the 6.1 (had 5.7) and the Brembro's. $40k sticker. Why would DC dilute the SRT brand with a "half-a$$ed" SRT? I just had to scratch my head on that one. Any ideas why they would do this when they already have a full range of 300's to offer?

Can't tell you why, but for those who don't want to lose the MDS of a 5.7L and don't want the high cost of a 6.1L SRT, it is another option available. I have seen a couple around, not my taste but not a bad choice for someone who likes it.

....loss of gas mileage....I get 22 MPG in my car on the highway...wouldn't trade it FOR ANYTHING to get the 23 I got in my 5.7L R/T

It sounds like it's the R&T package or Daytona package but for the 300.

That's kinda what I was thinking, but it seems like they could have been more creative with a name so as to not confuse the issue.

Nope, not a dealer installed thing or an aftermarket tack-on at a local shop as I understand- right from the MoCo.

If thats what someone wants, fine. I've seen all kinds of stuff that just doesn't belong on a particular car (no just in the LX family) but when Chryco adds to it, something is lost.

I don't think it's a bad gig really. You get the brakes, suspension and seats and no gas guzzler tax. Compared to what all that cost me, it's a deal. Just don't fall for the BS dealer mark-up.

member by the name of Teo has one. I met him and his wife at the Fondy meet this year. I thought it was an SRT untill I was at the rear and saw the srt design badge. I am sure someone that drives one could tell ya more about them.

My dad (not really a car guy) came home one day teasing me about spotting an SRT poser. When I explained that it came that way he ranted about how it was complete BS for them to be doing it. I guess he's been trained well.

Didn't they bump up the horses on the HE 300C with an exhaust and such? THAT was a nice way to do things... none of that slapping a SRT style "SRT Design" badge on it.
