Went in to get the tcm update...

and it doesnt auto upshift at redline in manual mode. The EVIC reads 'upshift' but unless I do it, it doesnt go to next gear. On top of that car feels like a little bitch, seems like BG flash is gone and the stock flash is back on. Did they flash the wrong thing or did I miss something? Do I need to get it reflashed by Dave? Argggh.....

THey probably flashed your ECU, getting rid of your B&G, and never did the tranny.

Best go get the tranny done *now*, then send the ECM back to B&G and have them re-flash with the good stuf... (don't do the B*G again until you are done going to the dealer... they will just mess up again....)

they swear up and down that they flashed the tcm and not the ecm, is there anyway to verify that they did? Is there some version number that will confirm that it was done?

Check the multiple threads out there... and then look at your invoice.

    ANother way to check:
what RPM does your car idle at now? If you had a B&G that raised your idle to 750, a dead give-away would be to go start the car, go into EVIC and see it idling at 625....

Under the hood after the flash is done, they will put a sticker near you engine bay. That number should end in the letters AK with the date that it was completed. The flash ending in AK is the most updated flash for the TCM. That sticker signifies that the flash was done to your TCM and they would be negligent if the sticker was placed and the flash not done.

They gave you the WRONG flash. This happened to someone else this week too. Here is their post about HOW & WHY it happened. It's corrected now for him.

This is the old flash from last year that was supposed to cure the 1-2 shift, but did not. And on top of that it makes the car slower.

Be sure to bring in this info:

    TSB #: 21-020-06

    Date: December 20, 2006

Subject: Flash: SRT8 - Delayed Or Rough 1-2 shift at Wide Open Throttle After Kickdown

Overview: This bulletin involves selectively erasing and reprogramming the Transmission Control Module (TCM) with new software.

Models: ALL 2005-2006 SRT8 models of the 300C, Charger, Magnum and Grand Cherokee (North America and International Markets).

Symptom/Condition: The customer may experience a delayed 1-2 shift at wide open throttle after a kickdown. This is often referred to as a harsh or jerky shift which is the result of the engine reaching the maximum engine speed fuel cut off prior to the transmission shifting.

Note: This flash will also change the strategy for the “Autostick” feature. This version will allow the transmission to upshift when the maximum engine speed is reached. The previous version would not allow the upshift unless the driver selected the next gear. Once the flash is performed, all of the changes are permanent and cannot be reversed.

Hmmm, I didn't even check for the sticker. So if you do it to an R/T since there's no TSB, you don't have to apply the sticker? I don't recall any notes with the flash about that! Only the TSB.

If your SRT shifts by itself in autostick mode, then yes... you have the correct TSB. All's well.

I don't know what the PCM update was, you may just have been due for something in there.

This is the only thing ever done to the SRT8's that causes the autostick to shift by itself, so that's how you know it is the right one.

And get used to the extra responsiveness and the ability to break the rubber loose! You will notice your car will be quicker just because the shifts in both modes are a bit snappier (quicker to shift) and that damned throttle cut-out on the 1-2 shift won't be there. Enjoy!
