    Weird thing happened tonight

I have an 08 MSRT with 350 miles on it. Tonight I was driving it and as I was going down a large grade I tapped the shifter to down shift to fourth just to coast down the hill. At the bottom I stopped to make a left hand turn and when I went the indicator said I was in 1st which I didn't notice until I realized it wasn't shifting.Next stop the same thing so I watched and the indicator showed the car downshifting all by itself as I slowed down ( the indicator changed form 5 to 4 to 3 right down to 1 ) and the car had very little power. So each time I started to go I had to manual shift to higher gears. At the next light I put the car in park and then back to drive and everything was back to normal. Anyone have this happen?

I will say I love this car it is so awesome and with so few miles I haven't really gotten to enjoy it's full potential. She did get named tonight, I am calling her the BEAST because that is exactly what she is.

It's normal. When you down shifted the car, you put it into autostick mode. When the car slows down and stops it downshifts to 1st and you have to manually shift the car when you drive, OR push and hold the shifter to the right for a couple of seconds and it will go back into auto mode. You'll see a D instead of a 1 and you know you're in regular auto mode. No need to put the car in park.

    Yep, all normal.

Another thing that will freak you out if you're not ready....

Let's say you're in an RT and you hit autostick as you peg the gas... all it does is drop down ONE gear, and is not too amazing.

BUT in the SRT if you peg the gas while you hit autostick it will select the best 'performance' gear for you and let 'er rip.

All of this by the way is in your manual.

    Enjoy the ride!

Thanks everyone. What got me is just as you say here, I had an RT and I was expecting it to react the same way. So did I loose power because I tried to go too fast in 1st and some safty mode kicked in? When that power limiting mode kickes in how do you get it out of that mode without stopping the car?

This is cool because I will have some fun I didn't know I could have with this car. I'll check the manual when I go out to the car.
