Angry Warning on new Predator update

    Folks:
New Predator update is now available for SRT-8, 9r01 (previous to that, was R20, so numbering system is different now) . However, over on another forum, Diablosport posted this little gem :

"Reminder guys...once you go to 9r01, you CANNOT go back to any previous revisions."

I asked several questions on this, since I go back and forth all the time. Main question is if I want to go back to Version R18, for instance, do I need to by a new Predator (!!??) (unless the new ones have 9r01).

Very confusing. I would not upgrade until we find out answers.

Hopefully Diablo will step in and answer this as it seems like we dont know how to use all the new updates properly except thru trial and error...

I believe they are developing their versions to always work with the latest PCM software versions (as they should). Because of this, they don't go back and make the old CROM's compatible with the new PCM CALID's (and they shouldn't).

I would bet that if you could get someone with a StarScan/StarMobile to downgrade your PCM to a prior CALID that you could load R18.

Seems like this should be posted under the Diablosport forum if you want an answer.

Their answer - basically, they assume a 'no looking back' product. To a point, I agree.

    Answer:

I gotta say, the U7135 is the first and only tool where we have ever had customers trying to use old revisions.
Occasionally, due to the way things work on our end, changes like this will happen. We dont make revisions to decrease performance or features, so it is always advised on our end that you be on the latest revision anyways.
For example, this rev has a fix for those still getting codes for rear O2s after disabling them, so if you want that fix, update.

Yup, I have the '02 codes after programming, also. So, I'll upgrade. I'm running r19, 91 oct & CAI, plus changes to the standard Diablo programming for such (fans speed settings, fuel enrichment 2%, etc). Do I need to go back to completely stock before making the change to this new 9r01 version, and downloading it to the Predator and then the car?

Once an update was done with R19 or later you could not go back to anything earlier.

You must go back to stock with any version update.

Thanks. I've had my Predator since version r16 was just released, but hadn't installed it until a week ago with version r19. I didn't believe r20 was necessary, because that was supposedly for a programming issue with 5.7 cars. Though, I just read that there may have been fuel table improvements in the CAI tunes for 6.1 cars in r20version, too??

I guess it doesn't matter with 9r01 version now.

It seems if you want to do a CMR, you need to upgrade:

*fix for error when loading a custom tune before taking a backup

No tune changes where done vs r20.

I have it in mine now and it runs great IMO.
Went to get dyno'd yesterday but couldn't because a vibration issue in the rear over 95. So it's off to the dealer this week and hopefully a it's only a balance issue.

Be sure you have the tires Road Force Balanced by a good tire shop. I have had the same issues...
