Question TSB 09-011-06 Oil Cooler Jets...anyone look into this?

After I've been driving a bit, I notice when I stop a whining which sounds like a belt or a "fly buzzing kind of sound"...if I give it some gas it will dissapear for a moment and then reapear...
I read this tsb and it sounds like it to me.
Not much else but a change in oil viscosity....
It still happens here now during the winter....but it's not a REAL winter here in Jax...so I'm not sure if I should change the viscosity for summer as a permanent change.
    Your thoughts ol' knowledged ones!
    Take care,
    Christopher

the TSB states that the whine typically happens in engines operated in ambient temps above 50*F. i think you're pretty safe with the 15W50 year round.

I know its not recommended, but you *can* run 1/2 0W40 1/2 15W50 with no problems coming from the oil.
It would bump the viscosity just a little bit when idling, but not cause TOO big of a change, allowing for quick oil movement on cold-starts.

not trying to hijack the thread, but is there any danger with this noise condition? is it anything more than annoying? if you can run 15-50 oil, 10-40 should be ok then too right? any input please!!!

The TSB states that there is no risk with the noise,...so it's just annoying I guess. I don't like it...Makes the car sound bad, especially when sitting at a light.
My 06 was built late in 05, so I guess that is why I have the problem? Does this mean that the later model MSRT's have a different viscosity of oil or do they also have the 0W40? If so, what did they do to fix the problem?
    Take care,
    Christopher

i believe they changed the design of the oil squirters.

I am sure, in Kuwait, you could use the 15W50 and have NO problems whatsoever.

The SRT guys have stated TWO specific weights of oil to use, the
0w-40 and the 15w-50. That's it..if you want to use something else, you are risking the warranty..not woth it if you ask me. Besides the SRT guys use specific oils due to the tests they run..

My understanding and memory(you are risking a lot here if you listen to me) is that the whine is caused by harmonics produced by the "oil squirters" in the upper part of the 6.1. It is not supposed to be a mechanical or longevity problem but simply an undesirable noise. They have corrected the "noise" by simply changing the angle of the "squirters" for the later 06 and 07 models.

Does anyone have an actual part number for the revised oil squirters?
I just tore down my shortblock and noticed the check valve in them, but
I dont have a build date for that SB. Also should be a surplus of squirters
out there from the stroker guys that aren't putting them back in due to
    clearance issues.
