    Throttle body information accumulation thread

I know our tbodies do not have a heater built into them as many other units do. This leads me to believe the current our PCM's can deliver to them is hefty. If your throttle body is frozen, it takes a bit of current from the PCM to get it moving. I also know it doesn't completely close until the car is started. It rests slightly open. I would like to know what else others have deduced or discovered about our throttle bodies. Does anyone knows for instance if our throttle body is a stepper motor? How many steps? If it is, does anyone know what kind of signal/voltage is used to control it?

I'm almost certian that it's a stepper. Couldn't comment on the step angle.

I know that the StarMobile will allow you to directly link the accelerator pedal to it with the engine off, for testing purposes and the highest opening it will read is 76%

That dude over on the jeep site had the whole shooting match all hooked up... jaak, you were on that thread too IIRC. I have a spare in my bedroom right now that I could play around with so long as it doesn't get ruined.

The highest I can get the ETC duty cycle to hold at is +26% when I am pounding the pavement. It idles at around -25%.

Yeah, I'd do the same thing if I had the time... Can't win, when I had a job that gave me time, I was making half of what I make now! Don't think I'll go back...

I think I have figured out how to keep the 1,600 rpm fwy evaluation process from throwing me into throttle body limp mode. I keep moving the pedal every 90 seconds or so. I simply let off and let her coast down a little, and then apply pressure and move her back up. Since I started doing this, I haven't gotten the vacuum leak code, nor the throttle body limp.

An updated Solus will allow the same testing parameters->76% is WOT...The irrational me would expect 100%.
